I'm not the most social person in the game, and I've been pondering the reasons for that. I'm curious as to why others might choose not to party up with others, if the opportunity arises.

The poll is geared towards why you decide not to party, not why people don't party with you.

I answered "I'm busy doing something else (I had a plan when I logged on)" for the few times I will decline. Usually I'm game for adventuring with friends, however.

Another reason for me is that I would party up for RP, but I don't know many RPers. So I don't party up because their playstyle is not what I enjoy doing.

I spend time exploring and take my time in a scene. Lots of people (I find) rush around and kill everything and anything to max out their time/exp/loot.

I love multi-player games but the reasons I don't group are:
    • I'm still an advocate that a lot of content should be solo-able so I try them out.
    • I don't enjoy when players give me free upgrades when I want to find them myself.
    • I don't like when players rush things or have a "better way" of doing things when it involves any actions that might be contradicting the point of playing the game... like grinding in one spot and AoE spamming because it yields more XP.
    • I don't enjoy having to use voice-chat and hear other people's conversation on how annoying their pizza delivery guy was.

LOL... that was specific! I don't join parties, when they want to do same thing ALL the dang time OR complain about losing EXP every 5 seconds. Other than that I'll join to do just about anything...

I picked not worth the time, the experience is good, but being poor i make more money soloing.
and i picked Im busy doing something else because, well nothing is done expedient in the game so it takes time to craft, complete a goal etc....

One thing that I fear is that I'll have to use Discord or TeamSpeak. I have some sorta obnoxious phobia that all but gives me a panic attack when I have to use the phone or microphone.

Other than that I too plan out my day the night before I wake up. I like to stick with my schedule but sometimes don't mind deviating. I love to party up otherwise and don't care about getting items or xp all that much, it is the thrill of the hunt.

When I log on it's in Solo because I have a ton of basic materials needed, usually farming them from Solace Bridge Outskirts. When I get my Theatre finished I'll be doing more group activity and get out of solo mode.

I won't join any groups that require voice chat. Totally and completely removes immersion. I mean for raids where coordination is necessary, sure, otherwise, no thank you!

I agree that when Mac farts in voice chat I no longer want to be immersed.

I'm autistic so I fully understand the social awkwardness however I always try to party and not just cause I'm a healer but because it allows me to practice my social skills so I feel less awkward and more relax when I actually have to attend social events in real life. Mac2 is correct that is might not be the best for exp at the moment but that just means I get to share the exp with more people and help them level up with me. I also get to meet a lot of caring and accepting people in the community who are totally ok with my social awkwardness. While there may be many reasons why people don't party there are many reasons why they certainly can and do.

I think we now REALLY know why @Mac2 is always solo... Bean-o bro, miracles created.

Serious note: There's no "roll" system in place in this game. What if something sweet drops? How do you distribute it w/o butt hurt feelings(or farting)? Activities like skinning the dragon only award producer exp to the skinner...Who DOESN'T want to be the skinner lol?

Basically there's nothing in place (or by design) to make a PUG work well IMO.

When I am in a party, I do try and distribute the loots between people, if one person got 2 artifacts and one person got none, I ask the one person to give one of the artifacts over to the other.

I'm one of those who would like to party up more often. All I want to see for next year is more high-level content focused for groups, I don't need more "bosses" to see I can kill them solo after a few days. I also miss old control-points.
