Sieges should have some kind of impact on the town being sieged.

    • Vendors should close up shop and refuse to buy or sell goods. (yes, including player vendors)
    • Teleportation should no longer take you inside the town, you should instead be teleported into the seige camp area.
    • Devotionals should not work during a siege.
    • The longer a siege lasts without being lifted should matter. End the siege quickly, you should get a bonus. Have it last for a long time, perhaps your town gets a debuff for an extended period of time.
    • EDIT: When a player or group helps lift a siege. Their names should be spoken favorably by the NPC's in the town, and this should help the virtue of the players.

The problem with that is not many people can kill cabalists. If a person needs to craft there, or if its a merchant town, or if they are going for devotionals, they are screwed if they cannot clear the siege.

You can always just run through the siege to get to the town.

Yes, that's a problem. But perhaps that's a problem that can be solved by towns not having devotionals.

In the case of POTs, don't have devotionals if you can't handle the impact of a siege. But in case of story towns, maybe don't live there.

Doing that could cause the town owner to remove all devotionals in order to protect the residents or visitors,

    Yes!

Which would be awesome! That's kind of the point of the sieges. The Cabalists have an agenda, they're not just there to provide phat loot.

Soon only a certain level avatar would be able to live in some towns. That is again very sad.:(

You can walk right through a siege at level 1.

I believe if you're adv < 20 you get pushed past the seige to your intended destination

But what is the point of running past a siege into a town that all the vendor, npc merchants and devotionals don't work? How can a new person go talk to the blacksmith in arie for the bonesteel dagger quest if its under seige, and the blacksmith is not there? Do you see what I am saying? I think its just a bad idea and will frustrate new people and that is not what we want at all.

The Blacksmith can still be there to talk about quests, he just can't sell or buy things. There's no impact to the main quest line.

Go to another town. There are like 500 of them.

What about a person trying to buy a recipe only available in that town?

Guess they will need to come back when it's not under siege.

The Cabalists are not sieging the town for the convenience of the avatars.

Actually I like the idea... but they would have to make the sieges less frequent, else I have to agree with Mac...

It would not bother me much, I can clear the siege, but for new players its going to hinder them, and we don't want to hinder new players, we want to keep them.

I believe if they had this kind of impact, players would clear them more frequently. Thus the frequency of the impact would be reduced from what it is now.

I also believe this might open up the door for PVP towns to have anti-virtue devotionals. It would give an alternative to sieged towns. Making pvp towns more desirable to visit and live in.
