Agree, my tamed Polar Wolf looks bad.
His fur is misplaced and looks like a glitch anf his teeth make him more laughable than a believable animal

You're right insomuch as the Nvidia model has nicer hair, more realistic... I agree.
However, I wonder if the time/effort/expense is something that I would put anywhere near the top of things that must be done anytime soon...
    Perhaps in time...........

This would have big impact on performance, that is bad enough without it. So, no thanks.

Hairworks is optional, you don't have to use it if you not want to.

Forums are full of screams, that this game is not producing fps that could be expected from modern game. Why anyone would toggle it, if you lose 20% of already crappy perf. Its even more on AMD gpus.
Don't get me wrong, this would be very nice feature, but so much more has to be done for performance, before we can get more shiny stuff in..

The Game will never perform flawless, thats why they talk about "reduce" hitching and not "remove" hitching.
Unity3d was the way with the least resistance...

I think it's a great timing, because they redo some of the animals.

Fur does not come for free by simply adding a plugin. It requires a lot of work to model it correctly.

What Barugon said (modeling part is pretty simple but the work needed is more about the optimization and fur simulation).

Witcher 3 wolves looks awesome, but don't expect to find this quality in MMOs, no these days.

Throwing in $0.02 to say that "visual competativeness" is a tertiary concern of mine. Immersive gameplay and sophisticated responsiveness from the game world are way more important to me. Bells and whistles can come later, years later even, for all I care.

I made a screenshot from the new Wolf, does he looks like visually competitive to you?
My primary concern is only the fur, the rest is ok!

Not completely related to the fur issue, but the desert wolves no longer look desert-y. They look just like timberwolves now, they used to be a nice deserty orange color

For a indie studio with 20-30 guys? sure it is, and this is an MMO. Try to find an mmo with animals using fur simulation, and we can discuss about it if you want.
