The Cash Register does not act like an NPC, it needs no AI. It is a simple interface accessor.
The reason given for NPC limits on lots is performance.

Would like to see it does not count toward NPC count, but torward container count.

Given what they've said previously, it sounds more like a bug if it's counting towards NPC limits.

It has to count towards NPC limit because of overhead associated with DB calls related to the vendor even if it's' not an actual NPC. Also it has to obey that limit so people can't fill their lot with a zillion vendors.

i do not want to give up...
Containers are also limited, so noone can place zillions vendors an one lot.

Placing more then one "vendor" can help to sort/arrange the goods one want to sell. You use this option with the crown merchants, and excuse that there is no option to arrange the goods in a better way.
It is no fun, waiting until all items are listed on a full vendor. Yes, there is more overhead on query vendor items compared to query container items.
But is there more overhead query 2 vendors with 200 items compared to one vendor with 400 items?

However you can count the Cash Register as 2 or more containers to reflect the additional load compared to containers.
I do not ask this for the "normal" vendor, because it uses AI and can move around.

Or give us bags to sort and categorise our goods. This bags can also be simple interface accessors. (I know that would be a functional "Cash Register" within a vendor listing that do only count toward vendor item limit).

How about just making it so that people other than the lot owner can use a training dummy?

My training dummy can be used by everyone. It is working, even for people that passing by.
I think it is in the AI path to calculate the damage/effects it has taken.

It only works when you, the lot owner, are present.

The 'zillion cash registers on a property' image sold it for me. We all know people would do that. Good call by the devs.

That is, why it should count toward containers. So it is limited and you remove container queries.
The NPC count is very low on lots, another option would be raise it by one.

However, vendors that contains less items produce less load. And one can keep things sorted.
Tons of vendors on one lot does not help selling things, people will not check "zillions" of vendors. That is also the case with cities that have many vendors, you get tired to checked them all.

What is the different for between zillions of cash registers and zillions of chairs?

The same problem - too much junk producing too many shadows and light sources, killing FPS - even when out of sight behind a wall or inside a house. ( I’m still in favor of a HOA in NPC towns :) )

Hell yeah. I would do it just for the lulz!

    Though @CatweazleX has a point.

That's a bummer as that was seemingly the only reason to use a cash register over an NPC vendor. Maybe there is someone out there who was dying to have cash registers instead, but for me it seems like a waste of time to develop.
