Updates below from the developer team.

    Response from Berek:

Please read the following announcement related to your recent questions in this thread: https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/black-sun-customer-migration.110422/

If you have any other questions, please let us know directly by emailing support@portalarium.com and we will see about adding them to the FAQ as needed.

    Response from Dallas:

    Fellow Avatars,

We deeply apologize for any disruptions the transition of customer support from our US operations to our international partners may have caused some of you. Our highest priority is for you to receive the best possible service, which we expect our international partners to be able to deliver more effectively for your region than our US-based operations can. In order for our international partners to be able to support you, as we have contracted them to do, they must be able to legally access the necessary customer account data.

Portalarium, along with our international partners, strive to support all laws within the regions we service. We will explore the data privacy concerns some of you have expressed in this thread and should we discover any non-compliance with data privacy laws then we, along with our international partners, will act swiftly to achieve compliance.

We are deeply appreciative of all of you, our generous backers from all regions of the world, without whose support Shroud of the Avatar would not exist! Our door will always be open to all players of Shroud of the Avatar, no matter where in the world you live, and along with our international partner's customer support, you can always contact our US-based customer support directly at support@portalarium.com.

    Appreciatively,
    Dallas

I find it offensive to consider Baltic States as russian native speaker countries.
Are we going back to USSR? Really? :) As far as I know we are in EU for a while now :)
English is not my native language, neither is russian... Avatars should choose for themselves where to belong.
It is especially puzzling regarding recent political developments in Russia.
This is not what I have backed for.
Hope that things will change for best.

I don't think the message has any kind of POLITICAL MOTIVATION around it... it could just be their agreement with their partner publisher...

I think it is all about the stuff we talked about. People are going to pay VAT. Afaik the store prices shall remain the same for everyone though.. we will see if that works.

    J/k.
I really, really do see your pain point but I guess its happening because they have your native language support as well.

Sure, but I don't want to move to russian speaking forums and communicate with stuff in russian. Political situation just makes smelly background to everything related to Russia :) Obviously Black Sun don't realise that Baltic States are in Europe and each country speaks their own language and it is not russian :)

I am paying VAT in Latvia and Latvia is part of European Union.
Black Sun is a Russian company, can't see how they want to manage VAT's in Baltic countries.

Doubt it has something to do with Travian at all. Black sun has struck the deal first and they offer the support they offer.
I rather sure travian as a german company would be able to offer support for eastern europe as well since a lot of country's are our direct nighbors but they made the deal after black sun.
It's a game. I am sure if you don't make it politic black sun is professional enough to take good care of you. Give them a chance.

Yes, I know that this is a game, just can't figure why I am forced to move to russian speaking world.

Yeah thats what puzzles me as well. Makes no real sense. Maybe Travian, Black Sun etc. have some other deal how they split the revenue by regions.

Without going into the Russia/Baltic/political topic - is the split that Black Sun is solely responsible for service and web store? Or is this on top and you can continue to use this (Portalarium) store and boards?
Without going too much into speculation I could imagine that the store is limited to Black Sun for revenue reasons, but potentially limiting board access would be less pressing?!

But politics always rules our RL...

As citizen of Ukraine I can not and will not use the services provided by Russia. For many reasons.
