    Title: Spiraling Invisible structures

    Reproduction Rate: 100%

Details: This has only happened since release 51. Every time that I play, no matter which adventure area that I am in, there is a constantly active mobius strip that is spinning slowly through every structure that has been placed in the scene. Buildings, walls, rock formations and the like are partially invisible wherever the spiral is spinning through them.

It is so severe, that it is hard to judge where I am walking across a bridge or through a door. Logging out and logging in does not fix the problem.

    Steps to Reproduce:

    1. Log into Shroud of the Avatar, Single player Online.
    2. The effects take place immediately.
    3. The FPS does not seem to be affected, but placed objects are "spiraling invisible"
User Specs: MacBook Pro with most recent updates. Game version 51

i am getting this as well.

just tried to hunt in deep ravenswood with it. the mountains were disappearing in that same spirally pattern, could not go on.
i am in multiplayer online and on a macbook pro as well.

at first i thought it was flashback friday! it is like the buildings are invisible but you can see the items inside the buildings fine. Then there are moving bands scrolling across the screen and in these bands you can see the buildings, or fragments of them. hey, i like to party so its whatever.

have you guys toggled through the various graphics options to see if one of them is the cause? shadows, antialiasing, camera effects, volumetric lighting...

Yes, I've tried every day for a week changing all of the options (screen resolution, shadows, online/offline, etc) and can't find anything to make it stop.

I even changed from regular to decaf and switched to Geico.

It won't stop the animated spiraling invisibility.

Maybe I should try sleeping in a Holiday Inn Express tonight! :)

okay, good, just checking! next question, have you tried launching it using a different renderer?

I'm not tech-savvy enough to know what that means.

    What is a different renderer?

different back-end graphics software. it involves launching the app with a specific command-line flag, as burning toad described.

    Ach so!

Burning Toad's launch arguments fixed the spiraling invisible structures problem!

However, it did have a tiny negative effect on performance (that I won't complain about). Now every time that I move 30-feet or so, the computer takes a split second to stop and think about the next area.

So here are the manual startup actions I must now take with the MacBook Pro:

    1. Set screen resolution to 1440x900
    2. Set Launch Arguments to -force-glcore

Thank you for the help! I really appreciate you figuring this out so quickly. :)

yeah, i'm not too surprised there's problems either way. just keep it in mind for each new release as things change, to see which works best for you.

Thanks! Cut my framerate in half, but at least its not giving me horrible headaches =) Hopefully R52 fixes it. Cheers!

That sounds similar to what I'm experiencing, that I've described in "Crawling Hair and Book" (with video); is that what what you guys are experiencing? I'll try the Launch Options to see if that helps.

The Launch Options fix does indeed solve the problem, at the expense of even more sluggishness than I was experiencing before.
