    Greetings Fellow Avatars!

The Player Owned Town of Festival is now open for everyone to enjoy! Governor Engineer is your host to a mountain retreat that provides both fun and value to Shroud of the Avatar players. If you are looking to join this extension to Owl's Head for either shopping, selling, or just convenience of being the exclusive Hidden Vale area, we hope you come join and grow with us!

Festival is sponsored by the Havoc guild and one of the three POTs run by Havoc members current in game. You do not need to be a member of Havoc to be a resident. Festival is a neutral and completely open community. We wish to encourage small and new guilds that do not have a home town to come join us!

    Visitor Information:

You are always welcome! Festival is simply a fun and lighthearted place where people can just visit or call home. Feel free to visit for any of the following activities:
    • Easy access -- right at the front of Owl's Head with a balloon ride!
    • Tavern and Lodge
    • Central Park w/Lot of Jump-to-your-death Opportunities
    • Scenic Snowy Mountain Landscape
    • ...and plenty of shopping opportunities!
    Resident Information:

Festival is designed to be the SotA equivalent of urban living, maximizing the amount of space for players to enjoy amenities and shared resources. The town takes full advantage of its link to Owl's Head as well as provides additional resources for its members:
    • Easy one-hop access to Owl's Head (recipes, obsidian merchant, best public vendor in game, awesome shopping, etc.)
    • Full set of +5 Crafting Tables
    • 5 Public Traders for Residents to Share
    • 40+ Row Lots available in center square close to the entrance
    • Water fountains for plants close to every location
    • Attractions and Seasonal Decoration
    • Chaos Resurrection Shrine at Zone In Point
    • NPC Crafting Trader
    • Wishing Well at Entrance
    • Web site http://www.festival.gq/
    • ...And the list of amenities keeps growing each day!

From the Desk of Governor Engineer:

Effective immediately, the Holdfast of Festival has expanded to the Hamlet of Festival and all the new space has been dedicated to village and/or town lots. If you are interested in a row lot or village lot, feel free to place at any of the open locations. If you would like a town or a village lot in a secluded or special location, contact me directly.

For players interested in opening an "Attraction" there are village lots open in the immediate vicinity of the entrance and in the center square. An attraction is a home with some particular draw for people who visit the town to stop by and take a look. They may have a role-play interest, artistic interest, or whatever the creative mind can create.

    Additional New Town Features:

    1) Devotional of Spirituality (+3 Adventurer levels, +4 fishing proficiency) <-- good reason to stop by while leaving Owl's Head
    2) Magic and Weapons Merchants have been added to NPCs
    3) Additional Commission Free Public Trader for Cloth/Leather Armor

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

Quick report for a new town feature, there is now a Wishing Well placed near the entrance. To use, right click and "Examine". Then answer "Yes" to toss in a coin. One use per week, you might need a few chances to get something.

    1) Use with Water Cloak to get item faster
    2) Use with ring of the gambler to get better stuff (?)

    Good luck!

    Hey Everyone,

I've been so excited about other player's new POTs that I've been neglecting updating changes with Festival. :) Congratulations to all the new Governors!

First off, several row and village lots near the entrance are available. There is space for village and town lots still, possibly could even squeeze in a city lot. If you don't like the existing available locations, the rest of the POT off the main slab is first-come first-serve.

Second, Festival is open to everyone! If you have a guild without a home town POT that would like to find a home somewhere, look no further. The location is great in the Hidden Vale, just a quick run to several adventuring areas such as Deep Ravenswood. There are public +5 crafting tables, an adventuring level devotional, public commission free vendors to use, and more.

If you are looking for a Player Owned Town to reside in, low pressure and full featured, keep Festival in mind. :)

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

    Greetings Avatars!

Quick announcement about village and town lot availability in Festival:

Festival opened up 4 village lots and a town lot along the back end of the village square where there were row homes before. We have had several new residents lately and the need for available housing has been going up as the community grows. On a personal note, the town center is starting to become more fascinating and it would be great to have more people join in!

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

From the Desk of Governor Engineer:

Greetings Avatars! I wanted to give an update to Festival and remind players that everyone is invited to live in this nested Player Owned Town located at Owl's Head! Quite a bit is new since the last update:

    1) Festival has been Upgraded to a Village, plenty of space for players to move in (we can easily double the current occupancy)
    2) Ornate Village Sized Moondial has been placed right in front.
    3) Both Spirituality and Honor Devotionals so you can get your Adventurer Level and Combat Focus Recovery buffs on your way out the door.
    4) Two bulletin boards were added to the front of the town.
    5) Additional seasonal decorations were placed (i.e., the Fire Elemental Statues) and classic Halloween Deco has already been acquired for October.
    6) The area around the zone-in entrance was reorganized for EASY ACCESS to the town services, including the Oracle Confirmatory.
    7) The "DEVotional" was added as a new town attraction - it is a mini-museum containing Skulls of Portalarium Developers with their biographies and items that are special to them.
    8) The Festival Chalet won not one, but TWO Portalarium contests. If you are looking for a large well-decorated RP venue, here is one that you can use.
    9) The "Dew Drop Inn" was added close to the entrance, it is still a work in progress. This location is a tribute to the players and will be the new home to the Zeitgeist Library very soon. (https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/forum/index.php?threads/the-zeitgeist-library.92162/)

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

Edited: There are currently 2 city lots, 1 town lot, and many village and row lots available for immediate claiming.

First of all, I wish to thank Portalarium for featuring Festival in the Community Spotlight!

Yes indeed, there are five new ones added recently to extend the "Merchant Row" part of town. They are close to the entrance, near the PvP Arena, and are to the right of the zone in point. If you have any special requests for a row in a secluded location, just let me know.

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

I'm still early in my adventures and am currently near the Perenial Coast. How possible is it for me to get up to Festival?

    Good question!

There is clearly some obstacles put in the game that keeps us apart. As Festival is located at the Hidden Vale, it is a long journey from the Perennial Coast. Here's a few plans:

    Traditional Way:

You will need to travel past one of the dangerous zones of Eastreach Gap, Brightbone Pass, or through the troll-infested pass between Aldhaven and Sawtooth Ticket. You can identify these locations on the official SotA Map at https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/map/

Once you've made it to the other side, make your way to the overland map near Central Brittany. You will want to avoid road encounters if you can't handle them, or go ahead and combat them on the road since they are probably close to your level of skill (2 skulls, I believe.)

When you are near Central Brittany, you will find a boat along a pier at Central Brittany that will take you to the Hidden Vale. Click this boat to travel there.

Once you reach the Hidden Vale, follow the road outside Kingport to the center, turn North on Kingsroad (not to be confused with entering the "Kingsroad" scene, don't go in there unless you want to adventure in that zone.) Follow Kingsroad all the way to the town of Owl's Head and enter the town.

At the default entrance to Owl's Head, there is a Hot Air balloon that is a link to Festival. Once you reach there, click the ladder to the Balloon and you will then be in Festival!

    Faster Way:

For your first trip, you can friend "Engineer" or "Tila Tenderfoot" (both of us run the town) and use a teleport scroll in your inventory to teleport to us when we are in Festival next. This will save you quite a bit of time.

    Recommendation:

You can bind to Soltown at the Town Crier so after this long trip, you can use a Recall scroll to go back to the Perennial Coast. That way you can at least have a quick trip back to your questing area.

    Sincerely,

    Engineer

    Greetings Players!

The recent changes in deeds have made larger lots more plentiful, but you still might need a lot to place it in.

In response to less expensive deeds, the Player Owned Town of Festival has added several village, town, and city lots - with a focus on town sized lots. There are no reservations and players can pick any they so desire on a first-come-first-serve basis. Row lots are also still available.

The Town Crier is located on Town Boundary 1 if you need to check for locations and current availability.

    Enjoy!

    Engineer
