I updated the main posting with this testing information. I always run around with an Obsidian Bear so my test results are on her.

    Results
    Obdisian Bear:
    - With Combat Training of 92 and Taming Specialization of 100 (GM) level (1,043 health hit points)
OR Taming Specialization of 80 and all other Taming skills at 100 (GM) level (1,026 health hit points).
    - You can take any Tier 5 creature of a Tier 6 creature under 999 hit points one on one with no healing, in my testing.

TY and here in lies the problem with the Taming tree and specialization.

Skill in the tree is irrelevant, all the fixes - boosts to the tree are pushed into one skill Specialization which = Taming Special 2.0

I will of course follow up after the next relase with more numbers.

I dont think this is correct. At 121 Taming, 116 Summoning, 113 Combat Training and 85 Taming Specialization my Obsidian Bear only has 985 Health.

Pretty sure Combat Training needs to be at 113 for +16 Tame Bonus. I am not trying to pick apart your post. I am just trying make sure everything is correct for others for future reference. :)

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. :D

Thank you for checking with me on this.

Your advanced 100 (GM) skills in a few skills (Taming and Summoning) are not enough to compensate having GM in all of the taming skills (except Taming Specialization) to get 1026 hp on an Obsidian Bear. The Pic below is from 3/13/2018. I checked just now (03/23/2018) on QA and it is the same at 1,026 health hit points, The only difference is now I have Combat Training at 106 on QA.

In my testing, Combat Training needs to be at 106 for +16 tame level bonus.

No offense taken on my testing results. They are here for all to learn and help tune their taming tree. :)

@Grimbone Maybe the difference is that QA has changed code that will boost your bear's stats on Tuesday's release. If you have access to QA, a quick check out confirm or deny that.

    BTW Very impressive levels! :)

Thank you very much for your data information. The taming specialization is adding 4 to 5 hit points per level from 85 to 94. I will change the OP with your updated information. :)

    Nice guide @Duke Gréagóir! gj

Some info in case you want to add in the first post. With taming at 105 the Ferocious Red Spider has <1% (I guess min 110 needed?).

you have 1% at 120, you want 125 to 130 to safely grab a red fero spider

At 121 taming you have a 3% chance to tame the FRS and Darkstarr Corp after you beat it down under half health.

At 131 tame creature you have around an 8% chance to tame a fero red or darkstarr corpion.

i figure 5% an not beat it down any makes it doable, don't see going over 130 being worth it since taming is till not done good.. you really get no benefit from it especially since getting the obsidian bear is the best you can really get at this point... Its a shame but a fact

The difference between 1% and 5 % is so miniscule it make really no difference. If you can beat it down and survive, 121 is enough to tame anything at this time.

The major problem with taming is how ineffective the Skill Tree is as a whole. That is a whole other issue.

The Obsidian Bear is not the best pet you can get, the Darkstarr Corpion is better.

All bear pets though can bash to knock down or interrupt an enemy caster or archer - invaluable when fighting multiple mobs. Don't have the summoning level yet for a DS Scorpion, are they capable of interrupts?
