I don't think you Can... I think you can only apply patterns to Crafted items... Any Crafted item is Lootable.

White or black? That is the question. :) Black looks more natural but I'd hate to lose the dracony fur as one of the very few people likely using it.

Can you change the scale color from black to gold?

I think that the white look is much better for the game's lighting. When I tried the leather tabard with dark grey dye it seemed to have an unnatural sheen from certain lighting angles. With your design that white tabard looks like it could just as easily be used in a formal gathering or in action.

I also think that's a great idea of mounting the items for display when not being worn!

That's an interesting idea.. though I'd have to pay to unlock it now. :) Though I would be willing to unlock and resubmit it, I'm hoping that when the system is improved the fields will be better applied to the items so we don't have that obvious square decal look.

@Bowen ... if you decided you wanted to not use the Scales, you could replace your Cross Throughout with something like a Cross Fleury or Cross Bottony and have a device that works well on a simple field.

I had the same debate. Black pops, but absorbs any crest shadowing. Tried white and grey, but that seemed to meld with the chain/plate coloration too much (but your red is a nice counter). Ended up using blue dye as a happy medium. I'd snap a new pic with my dye job, but I'm presently invisible. ;)

In my case, it's preserve the fur or reduce the square look. You can see from my forum banner what it's intended to be.. Which ever I go with I think will be temporary until in-game heraldry reaches its 'final' form.

Also considering that banners right now don't appear dyable. At least I don't see how to do it.. so they're stuck with the white..

The APPLYER's CoA is applied, so in your case your ALT needs to apply the pattern to get the correct charge

I am curently reworking my CoA to better fit to the ingame conditions. The outcome so far is 4 variations. Only the argent and gules tincture is a given. The azure (like) tincture will be achieved through ingame dyeing of the background (shield, tabard etc.). What do you think looks and fits best, valued Heralds?
(If only there were a heraldry ingame preview tool...)

I see (or can't see) the issue, but FWIW, on the shield, that is the best I've seen yet! Nice work!

Personally, I have no opinion... As your device has always fallen outside the bounds of traditional heraldry (not a bad thing), I can't really provide any cogent opinion beyond what I think, as a person rather than a herald, what might look best... TO ME... And what I would do if I were you is go with what you have in-game already... But, if that were a satisfactory answer TO YOU, this thread wouldn't exist. :)

Of the choices presented, I think I'd go with #3... but I think what I would do if I were you is take your examples... Place them on a large (Far larger than the charge) block/rectangle, of color and choose which You think looks best floating in a sea of blue or whatever color you'd like... What you're doing is removing the Blue as part of the charge, and reducing the Charge to just the white and red bits... Put it on a field and choose the one you like the look of best.

@Rufus D`Asperdi Thank you for the great feedback, very appreciated and inspirational. I am back to work on the coa now.

The coa is inspired by traditional coa. Think it should be blazoned as

per pale argent and azure an anulett counterchange within 4 roundels gules counterchange

But maybe I am wrong with this.

It would actually be ...four roundels within and annulet... But that doesn't account for the differing sizes of the roundels, and each of the roundels would need to be described separately...

Per pale argent and azure, four roundels, the first and fourth per pale gules and argent, the second gules, and the third argent, all within an annulet counterchanged.

But that still doesn't account for the 4th roundel being smaller than the other three... I know of no way in the language of heraldry to specify the size of a charge, or the relative size of a charge in relation to other charges of the same type. It COULD be written up to Artistic License... but there's no way to communicate that difference in words to someone that's never seen the device and have them draw what you have.
