That's essentially once per month isn't it?

My opinion is that it seems too often, but I'm probably somewhere between a casual and hardcore player. I think I'd rather see them implement some type of rested xp modifier to help the casuals catch up.

Maybe even do something to incentivize players going to player-run inns like increased rested xp modifiers for idling there.

not for 2 weeks. Maybe the weekend after the release, but i thinks even that would be too much.
    Should be something special

X2 on release day, I could see being useful with all the patches that go through that day. Or perhaps on every day a patch is released? :D

If you were not set up immediately to use it as soon as you logged on you waste most of it preparing and getting to where you wanted to use the hour. Poor execution

Your idea is the best, but it takes months for Portalarium to catch up on good ideas, unfortunately... Also, if they would sell rested exp powerups in the store, it would also help casuals, since they are the ones don't mind spending a bit of money to catch up on things.

Once per quarter at most. It should be rare.

I would like to see an extra daily XP after any outage though.

It would be nice to have it on the monthly Livestream where the goal mark is met at set dollar amount to earn 2x and 3x experience mixing in with virtual items. That would probably draw more people into buying add-ons during that time frame.

Every month is way overkill.. Even every quarter I think is a bit much. A regular schedule would only encourage a pattern of behavior and set expectations I'm not sure you'd want to set.

As for rested XP.. I'd think that greatly depends on implementation. Personally, I don't even like free daily XP. It's supposedly to offset the death penalty for lower levels but then.. that never made any sense to me. Why not adjust the penalty if that's the case? Quick and dirty gimmicky solutions to things just sit well with me. Anyway, I digress.

I played in a system that had a form of rested XP that included use of inns/taverns and I can well predict a pattern of behavior in players that would essentially involve non-RPers going afk in such places for extended periods to game the system. Setting an inactivity timer doesn't help much either.

On the flip side, even if it's only logging in and out of the game in specific areas it can have some effect of bringing players into proximity to other players which is generally a good thing.

That was my thought - bring players into taverns to bring life to those areas. Whether they were actively at the keyboard or not doesn't really matter too much.

I'd like to see something similar to the entertainer buff system in SWG where everyone crowded into the cantinas around a performer to get a special buff. Created a decent environment for socializing and getting to know people. Made the game feel more alive too.

It could matter to some. (Mostly RPers really who want people to interact with). Also, one difficulty I see is whether or not you could work player run taverns or inns into the mix, or if it's designated NPC structures in NPC towns only.

I think there is, and should be a desire to promote player establishments but how then do you manage that? heh.. just got an idea actually. If a town owner can be allowed to designate one inn and one tavern for their town? hmmm or rather just one lot?

Any player structure that is designated an Inn by design could qualify, or it could be a designation that they select from a menu on the lot itself. Maybe an additional tax is levied if it's an entertainment building. The benefit to the owner would be they could charge entrance fees or recoup fees in the way of selling the entertainer buffs. The system worked quite well in SWG. I see no reason some adaptation of it couldn't make it's way here. I think that you'd find a good mix of people at the keyboard and those not at the keyboard. Give people a reason to frequent taverns and they will come. Give owners a means to excel over others and you could quickly create a whole new profession for non-combat players.
