I noticed that Arch and Gentoo users had incidentally found the exact configuration options that cause the issue, that happen to be loaded in certain other distros. I wish I could remember where I saw it, but I don't. However, this indicates a library compatability issue which is usually fixed with an API shim to apply a workaround.

The simple solution is to set the elf loaders to pull a game directory shim patch to workaround the issue. This is, without a doubt the quick and dirty way to do it and has the potential to cause certain issues.

A cleaner solution is available if you have the source code for said modules that run into the incompatibility, you can simply attach the shim in during build.

A long term solution if you have the source code is to actually fix the code so it no longer is subject to creating a crash with the particular problem configuration(s).

Must be those obsidian elfs. They're always causing trouble.
