I've currently got SotA on my hard drive, and I'm thinking of buying an SSD to play it on.

My question is, do I need to backup all my SotA files (wherever they are) and install them on the SSD, or are all character progression files etc on the SotA server, so all I need to do is just install the game, log in and play straight away from wherever I left my character last ?

    Thanks.

All saved data should be on "their" server. Whatever data the client needs it will get from there. So simply installing the client on the SSD should work.

Just install the game on the SSD. Character data is saved on the server.

If you play in offline mode also, you should save your savegame file ;)

Uh, right, I forgot about the offline-mode. Yes, you should see where THAT data is saved, it shouldn't be too difficult to find and save those files.

And if you took some screenshots you should save them as well ...

I keep my patches (SOTA download folder) on my SATA for a backup. Never want to have to download all of those again!

You can extend the life of your drive by placing well used OS files on your SATA too. There's a maximum amount of writes before failure for SSD. Page File, Hibernation, Index etc)

Will absolutely love the startup time!
