    Was fantastic - then set shadow distance to off:

    Yep, that is how lighting works! Lights always project light and without shadow casting, they will simply project through the walls!

    Ahh.. the volumetric lighting.. I'll try manually disabling that. .if it makes the light through the walls go away -- then I'm thinking of turning them off along with volumetric lighting: 41.96 FPS without shadows - 13.89 with.

    Is it possible that light sources and shadows out of view of the player, are causing a performance hit? Perhaps there is a tweak here?

    @Echondas
    How did it look for you when you disabled volumetric lighting? If you ended up going that route...

    Hey @Lexie - Disabling volumetric lighting stops the sunlight from coming through the house - yep!
    Re-enabling volumetric lighting doesn't re-enable it after doing this - it stays off no matter if the setting is disabled/enabled
    In order to get it to start working again, you need to turn shadows back on and disable then re-enable volumetric lighting (it doesn't start working if the box was enabled while shadows was off without doing this)

    so there's a glitch in terms of it being enabled when you had shadows on. confirmed with my own testing just now (my default is to have them both off):

    enabled shadows
    enabled volumetric lighting
    disabled shadows: volumetric lighting SHOULD have turned off but did not, neither the checkbox nor the actual effect
    disabled volumetric lighting
    enabled volumetric lighting: it should not turn on with shadows off, and it doesn't. checkbox is on but effect is not present.

    changed scenes, with shadows off but volumetric lighting on. upon arrival, no volumetric lighting effect.
    turned on shadows, volumetric lighting SHOULD have turned on but did not, checkbox is on but effect is not present
