@Frostll, definitely make sure you're using the latest version as that contains multiple fixes. For one, it should allow an empty map, should have no need to add a dummy entry to it. Also it should be able to handle .csv files saved from Excel with extra fields.

@Womby, it starts at the end of the most recently modified chat log and works back. It should be finding the last /loc entry in the file and then stopping once it gets that.

TBH, I'm really hoping they expand the CurrentPlayerData.txt file so it contains the same info as the /loc command. If they just did that, SotAMapper wouldn't even need to look at the chat logs, it could simply use that file. Fingers crossed for that coming with the next release, which I think is only a couple days away :)

@coder1024 When it was determined that Excel was causing "issues", I ceased using it and have been using Notepad, and I'm using the current SotaMapper V1.7.

@Frostll @Time Lord I think those are a form of emotes, but I guess far more advanced than the old fashioned smiley :)

I google the symbols and it took me to https://textfac.es/ so maybe that's what they were going for.

Great news if someone hasn't already said it the changes to the CurrentPlayerData.txt have finally been JIRAed :D So hopefully those make it into a patch soon!

I'm currently showing only 2 CurrentPlayerData.txt files in my Port folder.
One is dated 8/16/2016 and the other is dated 9/25/2016.
Have they not been creating these at all lately ?

Hi, I'm in the process of porting this to be multi-platform (mono based). I've found that this date/time parsing fails on European dates with 24 hour time. Currently it fails completely because of the missing AM/PM on the end. Simple fix to the regex works around this but day/month are then converted incorrectly.

I just deleted it and it made a new one so it's still working the same as it should from what I can tell.

YES! That's awesome. If the player area and map and position are all written to CurrentPlayerData.txt then that would greatly simplify the code in SotAMapper. It could just watch that single file and get everything it needs from there. And you'd never need to do a /loc again!
Note that if they do update CurrentPlayerData.txt as described above, that won't be necessary at all. Can just grab the latest data from that file.
Not sure what you mean. Can't have 2 files in the same folder with the same name. Are you looking in different folders? Should be the SotA install dir, that's where its currently updated.

You're correct, @coder1024 they are not in the same folder.
When I read that CurrentPlayerData.txt existed - and having never looked at it - I did a Windows search and it came up twice, one in my current client folder and one in my QA folder.
I only really noticed that they had old dates and when I looked inside they only had a single /loc in each.

    Hey @coder1024

I'm sure you must have seen this guy's mapping app, but if you haven't - it's here.

Wonder how he incorporates the map graphic into his mapper... ??

Interesting someone else is making another program but hopefully, this one speeds ahead of it since it's open source and overall has more potential imo. I'm hoping that this tool ends up using the much better maps from SotAMap.com as opposed to the ones he's using that are the mediocre in-game ones. It would be nice if the map changed direction depending on which way you're walking similar to the Google Maps GPS.
