    @DarkStarr
Was there anything implemented to fix not being able to jump when you get stuck on a terrain feature while moving?

Jump has nothing to do with getting stuck.

So, when I'm moving and I get stopped by some terrain feature, like a small rock or a stair, and I try to jump nothing happens, that has nothing to do with jumping?

You said "stuck" implying there was a bug where your character was immobile and had to use the /stuck command to free yourself. Now you are describing something else entirely I believe.

Are you instead trying to describe a situation where you stop moving when you encounter a small obstacle and then jump input is ignored but you can move otherwise? Please write up as a bug

Can you reproduce this issue reliably?

Yes. I'll test on QA tonight.

Great. If you have coordinates that I can send team and/or you can show them a reliable repro case that would be great

You could turn this into a player made event and we could bet cotos on whether Barugon is going to make the jump or not. Like Evil Knievel!

I can repro it on almost anything that stops my avatar from moving.

So once you are stopped you cannot hit the spacebar to jump but all other movement inputs work?

    Here's the sequence:
    • I'm moving in some direction holding one of the direction keys.
    • My movement is stopped by some terrain feature, like a small rock, a curb, a stair, etc.
    • I press the spacebar in order to jump over the obstacle (I'm still holding the movement key down) and my avatar does not jump.
    • I can press the spacebar any number of times and my avatar will not jump.
    • I must release the movement key, tap the spacebar then quickly press the movement key again in order to get over the obstacle.
Hopefully you can see how very frustrating this is when in the middle of a fight.

I can reliably reproduce this using a planting bed. Maybe the second or third jump will work but the first jump almost always fails.

When long ago (before persistence) Something Was Done about avatars literally jumping up the walls, apparently two things were changed:

    - if you were not on a sufficiently level surface, the avatar would hold his arms out as if to balance (good visual feedback!), and you could not jump

    - if you were commanding a movement with WASD and your feet were stopped by an object, you could not jump

The former obviously was needed to fix the Spider-man wall crawling. The second may have been a belt and suspenders change to make sure jumping was sufficiently nerfed. Perhaps it was felt that waiting to see if the first change was enough would have taken too long, or required scheduling more dev time later if the first wasn't enough.

I find the latter to be extremely bothersome, even more so than the jump-on-release. If you are trying to jump up some stair-like rocks (or misaligned stairs) with a mild slope (like 15 degrees), it is almost impossible to smoothly go up without having to constantly take your fingers off of the movement keys. There is one place I think of in particular about this, which I will try to get a /loc on when I get a chance.

All I know is that I've been complaining about it for like the last 30 releases.

I have had this same issue for years, it occurs in many zones, and with many different types of terrain/obstacles.

Here is where I notice it the most. When I want to jump up to the top of this rock (facing north from loc), it takes at least two jumps, and the second one always gets blocked because my toes are stopped by a rock.

Finally got around to testing jumps. Neo-jump apparently does not have the toe-lock! You can jump when blocked while moving.
