It always bothered me that you needed to kill the fauns in the challenge dungeon to progress, and it is the same in the new challenge dungeon.

Since killing fauns gives you a virtue hit, would it be possible to create two classes of fauns? Ones trapped by their masters, and another group that gladly help their masters that have no virtue hit associated with killing them? This second group could have no virtue hit and be used in this challenge dungeon.

    That's an excellent point!

I'm making a variation of Faun that doesn't affect your virtue when you kill it, to be used in the challenge dungeon (Compendium of Pain and Suffering). The change will be in with Release 53.

Maybe this could be used in some other scenes, as a "Obsidian Faun". Just need to take away their "save me" barks during combat.

Another excellent point. I'll make that happen, too.

Maybe killing them IS saving them.

That's how I view it. If they are driven to serve, they likely always will, free or not.

It never made sense for a Faun to cause a virtue loss, especially when they cast a spell on you first. Granted, it wouldn't be a damage spell, but they do impede your progress, kidnapping you in a way. Maybe in a broader sense, and in regards to Fauns, you could make the virtue hit only apply if you initiate the attack. That way, you only take a virtue hit if you are the aggressor.
