Personally, I don't like first person view at all. Dermott already hit on why I don't like it. It they made it optional for those that want to play in first person, then that would be ok. But just don't make the rest of us play in first person when we don't want to.

First person for VR and zoomed all the way out for AR. I'll be likely using both. Getting oculus and just backed CastAR which I think will be awesome for home decorating.

No first person needed here. I think it tends to make me sick.

I am a third person player.

Yes! I would like a "first person view". I think it adds to the immersion and is useful for certain things.

I would like it if the current zoom system let me zoom right into the back of my head and my character model stopped rendering. Does not strictly have to be first person as such, but I would like to be able to look around and examine things close up from time to time without my fat head obstructing the view. If they are going to do VR support in later episodes (It's not a priority and definitely wont be in episode one at last report, but they have said they would like to do it later) first person view will need to be implemented for that anyway. Throwing spells and doing archery also has the potential to be much more fun in first person but we'll see how that pans out before we actually consider it a selling point. :p

Why not have both, like some other games? As it stands now, I have no choice but to use a camera view I detest.

A first-person camera in Unity is trivial

Yes, I do, its not something I use a lot in other MMO's but I certainly use it enough to want it.

For me personally, nope. I can't play any first person mode game out there. Period. Motion sickness from games sucks.

For other players? Why the heck not. I see no reason to limit the view of a person playing unless one view is specifically meant to give people that play in that view a noticeable advantage over other players. If it doesn't affect me, I could care less if they played in a view I can't.

Would like an option of 1st person view (preferably by just zooming into 1st person or zooming out into 3rd person - ala Guild Wars 1)

1st person is great for taking videos :p (and removal of HUD would really be great)

    Wow, this thread exploded.

I don't think anyone wants to get rid of the 3rd person mode, but first person role playing is super immersive. People here love immersion, right?

I just don't want it cheaply done like most MMOs. WoW and the rest just erase your character model. You don't get to see what you're carrying, you don't get to see any animations, nothing!

I really think having full zoom or optional first person view would be awesome especially for decorating houses.

I'm playing skyrim (with all the good mods) through again in first person. It ain't bad. Perhaps we just need an option?

Please. please add first person. I played marvels new game and it has 3rd only and it is such an awesome pain in the backside.

I've always used first person. Please please include first person

Ditto. Skyrim is by far my favorite "most recent" game...I've about 20 GB of mods, 2k textures, nice ENBs, etc.

I'm playing it now purely in first-person (except while on a horse, of course of course.) It's much more exhilarating/immersive than 3rd person--I prefer my "situational awareness" by panning around in the game, rather than zooming out. Sure, stuff sneaks up on me...but half the fun is being vulnerable...the other half is being able to dish it out. ;-)

Yes, options are perfect. I change views in other games depending on mood.

I only ever played EverQuest in first-person. I did take a look at third-person, once. I hated it. <insert grumpy cat>

Later games have been more combat-focused, so third-person was more of a necessity. I haven't really felt as immersed in an MMO as EQ back in the day (I'm better now - I can resist). My next big MMO after it was Dark Age of Camelot, which was a whole different thing. Not much role-playing, although the violence was fun while it lasted.

Ultima has always been more story-based, less about the ol' ultraviolence. I wouldn't mind exploring the whole world from first-person and never leave it, so I would also like to see a lock option to stay in one view and remain there through sessions. I'm 100% against being against other preferences, though :)
