At the risk of becoming unpopular...

Seems like its getting to that point where everybody is an archer now. Is the Alpha weapon skill going to be getting hit with the nerf bat any time soon? I have seen some ridiculous DPS coming from archers and it seems a little out of line with the other combat arts. Even for myself, I have switched to bludgeon to try and find some enjoyment from my click shoot kill rpg.

    Just wondering,

Agree. Ranged can kite, ranged can do big dmg. Ranged should be frail pussies. If I run up with a hammer I should be to able end ranged.

Agreed. Polearm needs to be nerfed way too much dmg compared to other trees.

Maybe for pve, ranged is useless in pvp. Lots of more balance needs to be done, ranged doesn't need anything else nerfed. I have every skill in this game at 80 or above and I almost never use ranged anymore for anything including pve.

I can do some high damage against an unarmored Training Dummy but there are reasons a lot of the high level archers switched to Polearms and other trees. At higher levels, it just falls off. I was almost going to switch as well since I stopped having fun after the crit to the back nerf.

There are other skills that do a ton more damage than archery, but I'm not going to call for them to get nerfed. They take much more away from archery and there won't be anything left. I will be an archer till my death, but only because I'm stubborn :)

GM and 80 in spec. I still like it, because I've never been able to play an up-close style. I don't think it's that bad (can't speak for PvP) but its inability to deal with more than one target makes it weaker. But I think most of the non-PvP complaints are more related to ranger style builds. The perks of light armor don't outweigh it's inability to absorb or negate damage. Combine that with doing a bit less damage, and the difficulty of taking on more than one target, and it makes it all feel ineffective until your AL is high enough that it wouldn't make much difference what you were using. I've seen plate wearing archers do well, and light armor melee/mages do well.

Ranged is not useless in PVP in any way shape or form, the strongest PVP builds in this game all utilize archery, and every single one of them will kill any single character in, at most, two hits.

    That's blasphemy there m8.

Were you around for the ETERNITY that polearms were the absolute laughingstock of the game? It only got brought into Range of being near balanced with some of the other trees after months on constant nagging by somebody... hmm I don't recall the guys name atm.

You wanna nerf somebody go pick on blades :)

LoL, can't tell if OP is serious or this is some sort of Troll effort, seeing as at higher levels Archery is under powered. Just curious as to what Adv LvL the OP actually is at the moment. Going to have to link this post to my guild mates they could use a good laugh.

I'm thinking that it has to be some kind of troll effort.

This isn't only the top, but the folks that play the most. Just because they didn't figure out the build that was widely used for 20 months doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Oh, and: socketing bows still doesn't add gem-specific effects to the possible enchants.

That's not what everyone can see in the pvp leaderboard.

Edited : Oh someone already answered for me. On this leaderboard, I only know 3 archers : @Spinok @Halfwitte and @Rada Torment . I may be wrong but all 3 use something else now.

I'm ok if someone think that archery needs to be nerfed but I would be interested to know precisely why. To me, it seems like archery isn't exactly the best choice for xp grinding (no AOE) or PvP (bow is inferior to most ranged attacks).

As far as I know, at low level, people don't use bow for efficiency but because of the playstyle or the Oracle.

    Play to higher levels.
Yes you can get ridicoulous crits
(after spending insane amounts of exp, as faar i know no exp tree is that costly)

    BUT

To do that you need to wear leather or cloth and are dragon fodder every raid (you get rezzed quick because they like the damage you do on the dragons even while it is flying BUT dragons love to gnaw on you, no risk of ending with armor plates wedged between the teeth...

I think it is an high risk lifestyle that has its rewards but if i want to be godly i would use not an bow...

Aside that compared to other weapon trees bows got the ugly stick, there is one endgame bow and that is an bow with elven strings, and that is that.

Swords? have your pick, many options!

I mean really, with bows they made like 3 options and have fun folks!

    Overpowered you must be joking
