    First time I zoned into Hidden Vale, boom, 99% lock-up. Beautiful mode trick got me back in at least.

    (I've thought all along that 98% and 99% were two different bugs, guess I was right.)

    98% and 99% were the same bug. It was a deadlock in Unity's threaded graphics system when warming shaders on multiple threads. We don't have a fix but we have a work around that handles most cases. If you are still locking up going into a scene consistently then we just need to figure out what unique shader variation is in that scene and get it into our prewarm set.

    Let me know if this continues. Right now it looks like stability is back to where it was 6 releases ago.


    Might wait a load or two before judging. Startup load times are going to be worse but scene to scene are way better and showing in the metrics already.

    This should get load times back to where they were 6 releases ago, which is when they were fastest. R54 should bring improvements beyond that.

    I like the update and have only had one 98% lock up since the patch.

    However...
    (I'm not being critical here just wondering)
    Why was a change allowed that caused the slower load times?
    Was that not tested with the changes?
    Why did it take 6 releases to reverse the issue?
    I think everyone would be satisfied with fixes that were tested more before release to eliminate user issues.

    Otherwise, I am enjoying the game more now that I get to spend more time playing that I have in the past.

    Startup load is the most frustrating one for me hah. Oh well. Always happy to hear of forward progress. Fortunately I’ve rarely hit this particular bug. Initial load sometimes would happen in New Britannian Market but I could get around it by starting on world map.

    Some players need told me they had it a lot when trying to enter my town, so I hope that helps the vendors/shoppers in my town!

    Close. Caused by us working around a different Unity bug dealing with shader warmup. :/

    What a kludge. It doesn't seem like the Unity people are very supportive when it comes to fixing their own bugs.

    Coming from a troubleshooting profession myself..... There is no way to 100% garauntee what something's going to do, especially if the bug does not present itself until later and in small isolated instances, it is not like anyone intentionally sends it out with a bug.. it has to be reproduced to troubleshoot and find the cause. As frustrating as this was, we finally got it more prevalent enough for someone who works on the project to finally run into the bug and figure out what reproduced it to find a work around . This is how technology works .... Think of it like your car, where you hear a noise you can't explain . You take it in, and with the tech right there....... It doesn't make the noise..lol..... Apologies for the long run on sentence.
