I have to say that fishing is not an activity that I want to do in a FRPG.

 

Define “Regular Children”?

There’s already a dungeon you can kill.... children all day if you wish. We already discussed this in this thread.

I don't mind death of children in video games. What I have gripes with is the idea that they think that would instigate a response based on one's moral compass.

There's nothing in SotA that inspire any moral dilemma. Oh, sure, you have choices to make but none of them amount to anything and there's no emotional investment to anything you do or anyone you interact with. Aside from your invisible virtue score, you get XP and a bit of gold. Despite receiving a "thank you" from the NPC from time to time, there's no closure or falling action to the what you did. So the whole controversy behind killing children is as effective as putting a white blanket over your head and claim you're a scary ghost.

... Especially considering the children are already dead. You'd have better luck if a bandit lord was training living ninja kids set to murder you... that'd actually fit with the shogun aesthetics they got for the south-eastern region of Novia and having them alive would have a higher chance of giving player pause. Mechanically, they'll most likely function like a weaker version of the mechanical monkey as opposed to something that would be more akin (and more possibly more effective) to the Fauns. How the heck are they even sneaking around (as mentioned in the announcement)? They're zombies! They should have the dexterity of a tangled puppet and emit a putrid smell!

These Zombie Children are merely an emphasis on the issue that there's an absence of moral dilemmas... and lets not forget that some people find it disgusting by principle alone (which is what I assume is most of the negative responses you're getting on the matter).

The controversy is misplaced.

I'm sorry, but the whole idea of killing children in an MMO is creepy. In a really bad way.

 

They are already dead...

 

Is getting swarmed by hundreds of dead children the ultimate result of killing Drumplemouth?

Yeah, I would consider it an act of Compassion actually in killing them.

They are already dead, and against their own will, The Ebon Dawn(?) are using them for their own plans.

Or there might be something else going on....
