Those patches in between have not always been this big. And other games on Steam update with small patches, too.

Also I simply cannot imagine many Steam users installing a separate client for games. One of the big features of Steam is that we just have to use one launcher. For many this is THE reason to use Steam.

That'd just be the FUD you've be spreading around to discredit the Steam chart numbers as far as I can tell. Patch size is governed by Port not Steam. Not even a year ago folks were flocking to Steam because the p2p patcher took hours to so what Steam took minutes for.

But that's simply untrue. I've never had an issue with the stand alone client.

Just me but I've only ever used the Sota launcher because I just don't go through steam. But why on earth would someone subject themselves to massive downloads and waste so much time with steam (For Sota alone) when it's literally tiny little patches (talking meg's not gig's) with the normal launcher? Thought you could just link non steam games to still get access to the overlay and stay in communication with your friends?

Ask Port, they control the patch size, not Valve.

I don't see why they would intentionally make Steam accounts need to download an entire folder and their personally launcher only update files, unless it was some sort of technical issue between the two styles of downloading but that is beyond my comprehension. All I know is SotA's launcher is fast and easy so I use that over steam, and being on crap internet I don't feel like waiting hours if I can avoid it by only waiting minutes :/

All this steam stuff is politics, depressing nonsense from retro folks that really need to give themselves an update.
