I don't use a public one because its too far from my house. lol. If I could replace it with a smaller wall fountain tho I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah the crafted water well works great, but you need a village lot to really place it.

That’s why you have a basement. It will fit the larger sized well.

You can also fit the crafted water well in the room on the first floor. Just have to be gentle with the mouse when you place it.

This is not cool, its good finding out what you did wrong later but in the mean time OP has already lost his Truth Virtue. I would have never thought taking water from the public fountain would mean taking a hit .. just rarely do it myself because it takes up to much time.

Ah, that sounds like it could have worked (at least for a while).

Everyone let’s test this in real life. Grab 40 buckets and take the water out of a public fountain and see if anyone around does not find that weird and call the Police on you. ;)

I just tested this at the fountain in Owl's Head by the bank in the North - couldn't repro it.

Are you sure you didn't click on an item near the fountain that was deco placed on it, that is stealable?

Which fountain was it exactly, @Elwyn

LMAO. You people seriously need to stop gathering water this way, the only way this is worth your time is if you bot it, and that is against the game rules, so take a time measurement of how many water you can gather in a hour, then go kill stuff for an hour and sell all the stuff and buy the water, and just see how much time you are wasting. My guess is you are only going to get about 1/10th of what you would if you just killed stuff for coin and bought the water from a npc.

Well, I can gather enough (IF i can stay awake, and IF I don't miss a click or an E significantly) to water 164 plants for an entire cycle in one hour. I know I can go do Upper tears with a party of 8 and come out of there with 2k gold minimum, and that's without selling back anything or selling the special drops (battle scythes, ancient bastard swords, etc). Add in the sell back, and still not including the more special drops, and I can make 4-5k an hour, so... in terms of what is my time worth, then yeah, I think I'll do this from now on! lol

Personally I placed a fountain on one of my lots for the neighbors to use. I would hope taking water wouldn't be a problem generally :D

The point is not the time it takes to collect water from the public fountain, although I do agree, it is not worth the time.

Would really like to know if the virtue hit is a bug, or intended to be this way.

That's pretty annoying, lol. But, you can just buy water from various npcs, crafting merchant, tavernkeeps, etc, for 2gp per water... 400 water for 800gp. For me it's easier to make that gold than the time it takes to retrieve it manually from a water source, because agriculture already takes a good bit of time even with the AoE modifications (thank you SotA btw, so much less frustrations with that).

I think Rome's water was continuous flow from the aqueducts. There were basically no spigots.

This was in West End, the big fountain in the downtown area. The loot window said "Bucket of Water" and "Steal All", so I didn't click the wrong thing, and certainly not 40 times.

I did that once when I was in a scene that had both town and adventuring areas. That may be the same one, but if that's where I think it is, you went way deeper to get rid of him than I did.
