Another question -- Can casks mature in a basement?

I assume they will mature anywhere, even in another container.

Do these re-usable casks have a durability rating? If not, should they?

Did you visit my lot in Aerie perhaps? :p
Efficient on ground space, but very greedy on external deco count :p

Very curious on how to water something that tall? I didn't know this existed in the game :)

They do not, but keep in mind, you'll be burning through cooking pots. Until you invest in a artisan/prospperity.

I dont think cask durability is necessary, it would just artificially inflate the wood market. Maybe a secondary tool (like chisels for armor crafting) that you cant get a infinite version of

It's my experiment into how much planting/watering/harvesting I can do in a single click. There is a smaller column in the middle used for targeting the skills, and a set of steps so I can get up to it. Currently I plant/water 74 of the 100+ pots on the stack, but my sow crops is only at 88. I'm short on producer XP to push up to GM on all 3 at the moment :(

I saw that and was very curious as to how you got them to stick onto the pillars like that. Care to share how you did that?

Also, if you stand on top of all that and do a batch Sow Seed, does it plant all of them at once? If so, I really need to know how you did that! :D

Planters stick to doric columns without too much effort, getting them all super neatly lined up for maximum planters per column took some time (I can fit 26 per column max and leave the top empty, so theorically I could get about 110 in total). My agriculture skills aren't high enough to do all at once yet (note that the "batch radius" number goes up with skill, and your targetting is a sphere).

A sphere, huh? I always thought it was just a flat radius... but I never tried it from up above to notice.

I think I'll experiment with your column stacking idea later tonight. I had tried covering an entire village lot with a pyramid made out of blocks and then used ceramic planters to cover the pyramid... so I could stand at the top and hopefully cover the whole lot in 4 or 5 shots. But if you can get 26 per column (13 high) that's way more space saving than my pyramid was. Can't wait to see what I can get on the lot.

Each plantable spot in a planting bed counts as one decoration, so only the columns count above what you would normally get.

It’s more like an upside down cone shape if you are looking at the 3D shape. So the higher you go up, you will not hit the bottom pots.

It’s brilliabt stacking, but I would be caution using this technique. Not sure how the Devs feel about this, but more like a bug?

Sorry to steal the thread to another topic. I’ll stop.

No idea why the devs would be unhappy, we've used their sandbox to do something people do in real life...

Strawberry plants work great like this; you can just plant the top and use the runners to naturally fill all the pots below over a few months.

Getting back on topic and showing some different numbers....
I did similar tests on brewing but because I'm lazy I simply bought everything. I buy from local farmers at 2.8g each for Wheat/Hops etc, buy the water @2, buy the yeast @20 etc.
Buying everything you can from players it essentially costs you 130 per cask and you can sell it for 160, Edelmann costs 127.2 which works out at 30 / 32.8 gold profit per cask.
Over 500 casks that is 16,400 for roughly 2 hours work (1,000 actions, 2.5 minutes per 20 actions).

Not as lucrative as actually going out and fighting but still turns a profit, I'm trying to decide if it is worth it or not.

Interestingly Wine is valued slightly higher and has a sell price of 6 which gives you 84 gold profit per cask if you buy grapes at 2.8 and sack of sugar of 4. Obviously these have a week maturity time so you have to take that into consideration. I'm not sure on the yield for grapes so that may effect price when buying them.

I do have to ask the question : what is the use of beer ? Unlike food it doesn't seem to give any positive bonuses other than get you drunk so who is gonna want to buy it ?

Do we have special areas in the game that require a certain intoxication level to enter I'm not aware of ? :)

The devs said on the livestream that this is just the preliminary system for brewing. They said in the futrue there may be recipes that add buffs. personally, i'd like to see ingredients you could add in addition to the ingredient package to give a brew different effects
