My Discharge spell says it has a 45% chance to fizzle due to equipment (as you can see from the picture i included, yet if you look at the screenshots, the equipment fizzle only adds up to 18%. So where does the other 27% come from & why? An the weapon im using right now is a regular longbow & it doesnt say it has any % chance to cause fizzle...[IMG]

if your fizzle from equipment adds up to 18, and you cast a spell with +45% fizzle from equipment, your fizzle from equipment for that spell will be 18 * 1.45 = 26.1

Also, the higher you go in a magic tree, the more attunement you get and fizzle drops slightly. Well, I think that's how it works - I'm new to magic!

Unequip your weapon and see what your fizzle is. ;)

Also to help fizzle rates are you going down the focus tree and getting the fizzle reduction skills to help? I am really not sure of the formulas though and I'm a chain wearer.

Yeah the Follow Through skill helps a bit with fizzle. It won’t really do that much for Plate though... but every teeny tiny bit helps I guess...

I dont understand what you mean, so maybe it answered my question & i just dont understand it. So i still dont understand how 18% total fizzleness (if thats a word, lol) adds up to a 45% fizzle when i cast...[IMG]

    iirc moving also increase Fizzle.
Your 18% is from skilllevel and attunement.
Equipment, weapons, moving adds to actually 45% for you.

I've almost zero Fizzle for all spells, but i use cloth and also have equip that reduces Fizzle.
Sometimes a spell Fizzles anyway because it has just a base Fizzle rate that cannot be reduced afaik.

P.S. Ive had a few inquiries on why im using a bow & not the scythe i finally got. Because she was born into the bow as her main weapon, right now the scythe is her secondary weapon. I use it in combat some everytime i go out & practice on the target dummy each day also so i can raise her skill up. I will be maining the scythe very soon :)

You may get a wand reducing Fizzle rate for your offhand.

I had no clue how it worked but with Alley Oops post it makes sense (I just wanna see if it looks like that across the board). Basically the +45% fizzle chance from equipment will mean that the fizzle chance you gear gives you has to be multiplied by 1.45 (1 for the initial fizzle chance, and 0.45 for the skills "boost"). That means that your spell is actually ending up with 26.1% fizzle chance (18*1.45=26.1). I haven't confirmed this, but A it actually makes a ton of sense and B you can get passive fizzle chance reduction which can modify these numbers.

Actually attunement just makes the spell and all spells in that tree more powerful. The higher the level in the actual skill actually reduces your fizzle chance (not the attunement).

With a gear set that is borderline your fizzle base rate; you will not notice a fizzle reduction too much until you get closer to Level 65+ on the skill. Just how the math works.

Base fizzle like most every other skill stat is set to normalize at around level 80.

iirc moving? Please...im still very noobish & do not understand most of the terms &/or abbreviations that are used here in the forum. May i please ask everyone to spell out the words in responses & if you use a term or action/skill from the game to please at least loosly define/explain what it is. I really appreciate all the help dont get me wrong, but if i dont understand the responses it wont do me any good. Thanks again for all the great info & quick responses you guys here have given. Its a really [IMG]ful & fun place to come to get answers or just chat...[IMG]

So then the 18% total from my armor you mean is due to my skill lvl? Ok, thx, then i wonder why SotA says from Equipment & not that also? Its very misleading. This is a wonderful game as ive said many times but im starting to see one of the biggest common reoccurring problems is the lack of explanation(s). & whats attunement again?
