Before I go about trying to set one up myself--

Has anyone compiled a list of decoration items that are capable of being placed as POT deco (i.e., not on a lot) items?

i've seen forum posts try to do this, but it's been years. it would actually probably be a good flag for sotawiki:

can be pot deco, can be lot deco, both

I'll set up a SotAwiki account and flag as I come across them, then!

wait until jayson looks at it, he may need to do some setup first
(and you don't need an account to edit existing pages)

Looks like all we should need is a category. I'm traveling today, but you could add [[Category: POT Decorations]] to a page and I'll fix the broken links when I get home.

things can be pot only or lot only or both. two categories?

i have tagged grey marble bench with both categories, since i know that one off the top of my head.

...oh, POT Decorations already existed, now 41 things in it. great!

I created it last night, and tagged all of the Add-On Store items where the description specifically said POT placable. There are lots that just say Property is needed, rather than a specific lot size, so I assume those are also POT Decorations, but I wanted to verify it first.

I did some playing around with the Wiki for the first time, but the ones I was looking at were all recipes--would it be worthwhile to label the recipes as well?

you mean the actual sheets of paper or the crafted goods? technically the recipes are all lot deco, but it'd be pretty low priority to label them all as such. but the crafted goods, yes. all of them i can think off the top of my head that are deco at all are lot deco, but some are pot deco as well, like the grey marble bench i tagged earlier and larger things like the craftable gustball field and tower. tagging crafted goods woud be great.

I meant the recipe that results in the item--I was looking at roadway pavers, for instance, and all of them had recipe entries but none had pages for the actual crafted object.

I will stick to experimentation with objects for the time being

Does anyone know the rationale for items -not- being POT deco? Should I be bug-reporting items that are not POT deco?

they limit what can be used in pots because what's put on lots can be culled or delayed loading, so they want you to put your fancy stuff on them to help with performance. don't bug it unless they've said it's pot deco and it isn't.

Anything that would qualify as a common ‘house/home’ item will not usually be qualified as a POT item.
