Basement questions

I saw a vendor selling a basement deed named "Row Stone & Timber 1-Story Basement" Now my questions below

1) I owned a village lot but does not has a house on it. Just a greenhosue. Can i use the deed to build a basement?
2) What will be the size of the basement?

 

Greetings @ng_dominic, Basements deeds are separate from House deeds. You do not have to have a house on a lot to put a basement on it. As for the size and style of the basement, it is in the name of the deed. For instance the "Row Stone & Timber 1-Story Basement" is a basement that is sized for a row lot and is 1 level. That particular basement is a open area with a ladder on one wall. Go to the Add-on store and look at the different basements. there are a lot of them and you can customize your basement hatch with different styles like the Nautical hatch that hat a wheel on it. Which brings up the question .... if you put the Nautical hatch on a boat or water house where does it really go?

 

Can i use a row lot basement on a village lot?

 

Yes, you can use smaller basements on a larger lot.

But you can't use large basements with a small lot - for example you wouldn't be able to use a village sized basement with a row lot.

 

OK then how do i use the deed? Simply click it does nothing...

 

You need to buy a basement hatch. Available at the Housing Merchant. Mostly also found in POTs. In NPC-Towns you useally found this merchant in the bank.
Then place the basement hatch somewhere on your lot and "use" (double-click, key E) it. That should oben a window allowing change basement. You can select one of the basement deeds you have in your inventory.

 

Oh well... too late... i got cheated... T_T

 

That's all part of the learning process. We've all bought something we shouldn't have because you can find it somewhere cheaper. Alas, it wont take too much work to get the money back!
