If you read the article at this link, you already know that we'll be spotlighting some side quests during this upcoming Friday livestream. If you haven't read it yet, I'll pause and wait for you to catch up.

    *pause*

And we're back! Anyway, while I could arbitrarily pick a handful of some of the side quests I've worked on, I'd prefer to also include some of the side quests you thought were interesting. So, I have a request of everyone: If SotA has a specific side quest that you thought was particularly interesting, for any reason, post about it in this thread. If I worked on that quest, I'll consider talking about it during the livestream. If I didn't work on it, well, I may show it off anyway, although you won't get as much interesting insights and backstory.

If you do request a quest, please let me know which scene it starts in and which NPC starts it. (If you have /loc coordinates, that would be extra swell!)

As a clarification, when I say "side quest" I mean any tasks, puzzles, conversations, or even Easter eggs that aren't a critical part of the main storyline and can usually be concluded in a dozen minutes or so. This even includes something like chatting with an NPC to obtain an emote.

The return the painting quest in Solace Bridge Outskirts. The mechanics for this was great. You could just do what is asked of you, or, if you possibly look around and observe some things and talk to someone, you might find some surprising information....

Come on @Sannio! House on haunted hill! I really liked that quest. Spooky atmosphere and probably the biggest reason was it didn't have any frustrating parts to it.

Please.... Yes, discuss this quest & the original intent of it.
The end result was a very perplexing & it would be good to "put to bed" the actual intent behind it's creation.

I really liked the witches quest and the ogre and horse quests. I liked that we had a chance to talk to the ogre for a certain amount of time to say the right thing before he wanted to kick our butt.

For me probably the most memorable "Side Quest" is actually a puzzle.

The Puzzle in South Fetid Swamp was rather fulfilling to solve. It had some pretty well written history around Castle Irvine and the clue collection was rather fun.

My main question would revolve around the Braemar/Kingsport questlines for the four adventurers who came through the rift, the smuggling activities, Enmar's anti-bandit moves ... they were all looking really good, and involving, then just petered out, dead-ended, remained in-game but just stopped and are not resolveable... or if they are, I have and can find absolutely no clues how to advance them.

They had a load of potential, were looking set to develop into really evolving and involving story lines, and seemed to just fall by the wayside. Is there any chance they will be revisited and completed, or failing that can they just be quietly removed - it's confusing to have such things going on but going nowhere. I've met a few newer players who were baffled about what they were meant to be doing with them, and I still have notes in my journal that imply a lot of things that should be followed up but have no matching content to actually go to work on.

Glad you like that one... it's one of mine! One of my first in SotA, in fact. Being able to make a choice in that quest was important to me. Sure, I'll talk about that one during the livestream.

OK! I'll add a "post-mortem" of Crooked Shank to the list.

I think you're talking about the witch and reapers in North Midmaer Way and the wandering minstrel/troll/caged horse in South Broken Road... I'll add those to the list!

I didn't work on that one, but I'll do a quick scan of it and see if I can share something meaningful in the livestream. We'll call this one a "maybe."

I probably won't talk about the oldest quests like these. They were created before I started so I'm not familiar with this history and parts, so I don't think I could share any extra bits of interest about them.

There's not much to say about him. At this point I think it's safe to say that the grumpy hermit you never see is just "flavor" and a fictional excuse for why the elves are there. He was happy living alone and then all these refugees showed up in the only safe place they knew, and now he's grumpy.

Here's a secret: I'm in love with the Clink and want to give it a bit of a facelift. I'll talk about that quest and the Clink in general on the livestream if we have time.
