Bear sightings ???

I expected 150 woulda done it, and ive hear rumors of a taming artifact. Also mention In the stand up.

Just to put this into perspective.

You can currently earn 1m xp per hour before attenuating.
You need 16,707,952,039 xp to get taming to level 200
That is 16,708 hours of xp to go into the taming skill
If you grind 12 hours a day at maximum xp...
That will take 1,392 days
Which 199 Weeks
Which is approximately 3.83 Years of grinding 12 hours a day and putting it all into a single skill of Tame Creature.

And then you will still have < 1 % chance to tame the destroyer?

@Chris @DarkStarr Please check this math and see if that is intended or bugged?

 

150 is still less than 1% to tame the fero obi bear

 

Someone tested on single player earlier in the thread, 170 gives you 2% on the ferocious, 200 is still less than 1% on the destroyer.

 

How much xp is 150-170?

Level 170 in taming costs 957 million xp. Even for the "little" bear.
Using "Scoffmath" above you're still looking at 11 straight weeks of 12 hours grind per day? Assuming a million an hour.

I'm sorry but does no one else think this beyond ridiculous?
I know there's a "few" people who have pushed taming up beyond 140, but even with double, that's a LOT of hours of grinding.
Why does taming specialization not add to tame chance? Tame Creature is an active skill, surely it should be modified by taming spec?

These numbers are just not achievable and need to be seriously ramped down, across the board. The taming level vs. summoning lvl is absurd. It was fine having darkstarr corpion require level 118, but remember folks, the diminishing returns system of XP, especially beyond that point. I'd think 130 should be the maximum expected for ANYTHING currently in game, or perhaps 140 for the big 'superbear' wyvern, assuming you only want a handful of players to ever get it. 150 at a push. Anything past that is not achievable with the current attenuation limit unless you mainline caffeine and grind for years. It takes more xp to even get to that point than a lot of players have -total- and they've been playing since persistence.


Easiest fix seems to be to me to making taming spec actually help you tame a creature, seems like a serious oversight to me that it doesn't. If taming "mastery" increased your effective taming level by say, 30-40%, then a grandmaster taming specialist with 130 taming could potentially get the bears. I think that's "dedicated" enough, no?​

 

So now I wonder what the point of the bears are?

@DarkStarr @Chris ??? Can you guys give us a clue? 150 taming isn't enough...tell me 152 is enough and I'll get it done. If the number is 170 well that's just mean spirited!

 

150 sounds good to me and 155 for da biggen 160 for the wyvern if ur asking

 

150 give less than 1% chance to tame the smaller one.

 

@Chris thanks for checking on this, Now IMO I figure the Ferocious Obsidian needing in the Low 140's be ok (heck put the Ancient Obsidian back in with the 5.2k hp and only need 138 taming to tame it) , I mean really the Obsidian Destroyer and the Wyvern be ok if there the top 2 pets an needing 150, but as is I will Tell yall what... From the start when taming was put in it was way way way over powered and to go from that to making taming way way way under powered, makes me start to think is there no inbetween (balance) its been way one way or the other since the start and its become a depressing problem, hell I have took quite a few 3 to 6 month breaks due to this mentality issue... And I am now bout same level as a lot of the people I knew who played the game... but time to just give up hope on it... really don't want to but it maybe time.

 

I would be ok with the Destroyer needing 160 to tame, the thing is a monster! I'm also fine with the Fero Obi bear needing 150 to tame, it too is a monster. I just wanna know what the numbers are so I can plan for them.

 

Imop 150 is a significant investment. After that the numbers get stupid.

 

Based upon the current XP structure, NOTHING should require over 140. Increasing over 140 should improve a tamers chances of success but even the Wyvern should be >1% at 140 and require Taming Specialization.

Especially considering the fact these pets are lost upon death AND the restrictions and penalties already in place for taming.

This is another thing we need to pay attention to is tamed Ferocious Obsidian Bear and Obsidian Destroyer didn't have the new petskill like the wild Ferocious Obsidian Bear and Obsidian Destroyer do
