Lesson learned: Cheapskate me loses big (Collector's boxes)

    also uses a credit card as a preferred payment method? That seems to be the mistake* behind it. With payment via PayPay the address usually stays in the state verified.

    Edit: *not your fault. i only suspect a mistake/problem/case with this payment mehtod

    oh yes, that's a bad story. I always assumed that some secure quality processes have been established in the logistics industry. It is after all one of the oldest industries.

    I believe you are correct. I do use a credit card for payment for my monthly live stream purchases. So my choices are to use Paypal or wait until I get my box to buy anything else. I'm leaning towards the latter.

    You could have had your friend in Arizona just ship them to your son's in California so he could bring them at Christmas. I'm sure that shipping rate would have been much cheaper and you wouldn't have had to explain to customs.

    But at least you have them now. :D

    AHh that sucks man, just a perfect crap storm. Maybe there is a way to find out which one is which from the bar code number?

    I am sorry to hear that, but I would have done the same to save a few bucks! Let me give you an example of something (not related) I did recently that ended up costing me way more money that I will never forgive myself for:
    At the airport in Japan, I went to every currency exchange booth to find the one with the best exchange rate instead of getting it done at the closest booth for maybe $10-20 more(this took me about an hour). Finally at the one with the best rate, one (or 2) of the employees stole 90000 yen from me (about $850 that I will never see again). I'm never going back to Japan.

    There's a few items difference between the two pledges so if you have a sensitive enough scale the ancestor will be lighter.

    I had a similar experience, though somewhat unintentionally.

    I emailed support months ago asking if I was eligible for any physical rewards, as I was under the impression that my pledge was "too late" for such things - something I learned when I realized I wasn't eligible for extra character slots and had contacted support previously. They confirmed that I had NO physical rewards coming. So I'm like okay, not a problem, I can buy a box when it goes retail, and didn't give the matter another thought. Or buy the shipping voucher or update my address because...hey, nothing's coming, right?

    I originally created my account some years ago and all my 'banking' stuff corresponds to an address in the US (where my parents live) prior to getting married and moving to England. (Setting up a bank account in England as an immigrant being, a years-long struggle, apparently).

    I didn't give it another thought.

    Imagine my surprise when my mother called me saying that a collector's box showed up. Its now several thousand miles away from me, and I'm going to have to pay a pretty penny to get it. Fortunately, we do have a visits and such planned so hopefully it can come along!

    I definitely remember getting e-mail reminders about this. It's possible it was buried in some other e-mail that may have been glossed over; I don't remember.

    Hate to kick you when you are down on yourself but $30 is the "new" price for international shipping. I paid $15 for mine since I bought it a couple of years ago and just had it sitting in my purchases

    Rght now they are critically understaffed due to many reasons, including since the start of the year, some employees leaving (including CS), and some having sudden health problems (like a totally messed up back). Also some vacations were happening recently. To make things worse, this meant that the list of boxes still needing to be sent was unavailable to someone who could send them, until last week or so, and that someone is currently Chris, who has a lot of other hats too. And at about the same time as their colo hosting had to change, their office landlord suddenly asked for a 4-year lease at 2x (or was it 3x?) their current rent, which meant he suddenly had a lot more work to do to move a bunch of stuff around.

    So yeah, you might not get a lot out of support juuuuust right now.
