Pet aggro problems?

    ok, ive looked, i really have!

    I sic my pet (obsidian destroyer) on something.... let it get it half health, toss a heal or sneeze or cough and all of a sudden whatever was on the bear is NOW on me.
    I wear light armor, so NOW i have to kite. This means that the bear is effectively neutralized as dps as he gallumps along behind the mob which seems to have turbo enabled at all times! I am fairly quick and CAN avoid most damage but the bear... deals none at this point.
    I do not NEED the bear really, but I LOVE pets. Every game i have ever played that allows a pet class, that is the class that I play. I love having a partner in crime! HOWEVER, if the bear is really going to be this utterly useless, please tell me now? I will stick my maniacally giggling water elemental if so.

    Sadly frustrated but still loving this danged game,
