or at least some sort of auto watering system. plenty of steampunk/kobold tech around and i placed a well right over there !

 

In one of the streams I think Chris mentioned that 1 bucket of water will one day be able to water multiple plants? Not 100% sure if that's what I heard.

 

THIS is what irritates me more than anything else. It's the spectacular stupidity of the current one bucket draw (circa 10 seconds) per plant in part, but what's worse was the flippant promise around 4 releases ago to fix it which was clearly insincere.

 

ANSWER: Craftable scarecrows that also act as a sprinkler.

 

Yes this definitely would be nice. I saw that you can power a windmill through a kobold generator, we just need something to pump out water that needs a power source.

 

Allow our automatons to perform basic work, Like draw water or water our plants

I watched a cool time team episode where they showed a roman machine that automatically brought up water that was still buried, chain and bucket and all, under modern day london.

Make something like that bring up 10 buckets at a time

Easiest solution - no need to water plants, since it rains 20 times during each cycle, even in the desert biome. Make the water component only necessary for plant action and just leave it beyond that. At this point, the 2 gold per bucket thing isn't really an issue and wells become unnecessary.

Oh I know, people will say it makes agriculture "too easy" if you don't have to worry about the time increment, and everyone will do it but its still limited by planting time and the amount of real estate you have. Honestly, does anyone enjoy being leashed to an arbitrary schedule of when they should play? Kinda reminds me of when people don't wanna go out and do stuff cause a certain show is on TV. To each their own I guess, tho.

 

Yes make certain pets more useful... Have them draw water and water the plants for you.

At one point I bought a watering can thinking it would water more plants... but no it can't water anything...

 

Just remove the requirement to water them. You still have to plant the seeds, but placing a well on your property will simulate some sort of irrigation system.

Perhaps they can do this for plant beds, but individual pots should still be watered?

 

This seems like a good place to reuse the crafting table mechanics. Just use the well or fountain, then queue up however many buckets they decide to allow per batch. One of the agriculture skills could allow more buckets per batch as well like the batching skill in smelting.
