How is it that I am just discovering this Gem of a game, not knowing it even existed for years while it was in early access? If I had known, I would have been a backer!

dude... run! the best way to enjoy ANY game is to stay OUT of the forums just kidding (sorta :-\) seriously, take what you read from some folks with a grain of salt, this IS a great game and it just gets better every month! the last Thursday of each and every month is a HUGE release with new goodies! it is so exciting, sometimes on that wednesday night i cannot SLEEP! yes, im a sota nerd... enjoy!

Indeed, I did sign up for the monthly subscription (I'm used to that in fact from the old UO/Everquest days). Though I will say that I probably will not be buying huge ticket purchases in the game... dont feel like selling both of my kidneys or wiping out my retirement fund lol.

I understand. I had a friend who even mentioned it to me back in the day (he's an early backer with a basic pledge and still hasn't played because he's always got a Steam backlog) and it went in one ear and out the other.

It literally took LB and Starr talking about it in person at a game convention back in 2015, followed by a live demo at the booth, to beat it into my head. That was R20, glad it didn't take longer for me to discover it.

 

DON'T DISMAY! your timing couldn't actually be better. The game is emerging as a much slicker and fun product after a long development and refinement and now it is solid and set up for great things, starting with new features, such as fishing and an expansion of others, taming, etc then.. episode 2 which will be awesome, new lands, mobs, main story expansion and so on. There are 6 episodes planned so your arrival is perfect. Have a blast!

There are options to getting a backer account if you are interested.

 

They make new rares to collect every month for subscribers plus there are veteran rewards. So you wont be short on rares \o/

 

Don’t forget the Chapter 2 early access in the store as well (that will also give you the neat Visionary title you can select in the game).

Not just for the material rewards of being a backer (I will admit however, they do seem cool) but also, it would have been nice to grow with the game as New Britiannia became more fleshed out. Looks like you long time players have had a ride so far! Oh well... I'm here now. Sorry for the delay! Lol

How did you find out about it?

 

When they begin work on the Chapter 2 early access (if you have that) you will get to be a part of that, and will see the game and system change and grow.

 

Reminiscing, I fell down the YouTube hole.... (you know how those holes go, looks for videos on how to change a muffler on your car, next thing you know you are watching videos on how to talk with giraffes) I was watching videos on some of my other games I play (elite dangerous for one) and I ended up watching a video on SotA. Think it was by that guy who plays Elena Strongbow. Has a large library of videos. I checked on steam and sure enough, it was there. Other then 40 bucks to lose I decided to give it a try, and glad I did!
