Brand new... just one important question...

I just downloaded the trial last night. Spent maybe an hour. Liked it.

Immediately phoned a friend. We participated in the UO open beta back in nineties. Fun times. This will be a cool way we can hang out and remember those hours and years of fun.

Anyway we both want to upgrade from the trial to the full game. How do we go about that? It doesn’t seem as simple as it should be.

 

log in to you account on the website (if it's logged you out; the website login also logs you into the forums but the website times out and the forum doesn't that i've noticed) and then, once you're logged in as yourself, buy either the game access alone (first thing on the addon store page) or, if you like what's in one of the starter bundles, one of those from the bundle store (there's tabs for kobold, elven, shogun, viking, and obsidian types.) you'll have to log out and back in for it to take effect in game. i'd actually quit the client, just to be safe. you'll also have a few things to claim in the bank after, even if you got the straight game access.

 

I would suggest waiting until Friday. Then there is a sale and you'll get 20% off, plus you will both be eligable for this release's life stream rewards if you buy your game access on Friday.

 

Plus subscribe with the savings to get some nice goodies.

SO... I picked up the Viking Tool Upgrade Bundle. Gives me a few extras to start out with.

In a few weeks my buddy and I may go in on a row house together. We'll see how long we can go without a home and places to keep stuff.

 

Finishing the main quests will give you a taxed POT row lot deed as a reward. That comes with a default house (2 story wood and plaster). If you fancy a different housing style, most ordinary (not rare) house types can be bought from other players at a fraction of what you pay in the add-on store. The tax for a row lot is half of the Oracle's daily reward for visiting, so even if you log on only every other day to collect your basic income (cortesy of the Oracle), you still can afford the taxes without having to hunt a single thing. IMO the housing bundles, and especially the row lot bundles, are not worth their cost at the moment.

 

There’s tons of inss that provides free housing for people for as long as you need. You can stay there, and store your stuff in chests until you finish the main quests.

Also since you have someone to play with, getting through the later parts of the main quest with someone will definitely be helpful!
