Just set a skill of your choice to unlearn and chose "Forget Skill" in the skill menu… et voila.

Didn't know some people had issues with decay. When did this happen?

Chris said decay was going away, but not likely until like R59 or R60... but will be replaced by "something that has the same end result" (paraphrased).

He also said he will be posting more details on the replacement "soon". I'd say keep an eye on his daily blog thread for the details.

I've always been for a death penalty - but never cared for decay. I think punishment for dying could be far less frustrating (for me, at least) then losing about an hour's worth of xp. So, /huzzah!

You don't NEED it, but it definitely prevents the Leroy Jenkins players of the world.
It makes people think before mindlessly doing stupid ****.
It makes people group correctly except the obvious trolls that should be on block list.
It stops people from messing up groups or parties by being reckless and then saying stupid **** "like what's the problem?" and being unapologetic to the party, because there are no consequences to dying
It makes the player-base lazy, because they can continuously grind with no fear
It makes designing interesting and challenging content pointless, because it goes from using strategy and tactics to constant cannon fodder throwing at an enemy
It makes a good healer OR any healer unnecessary

but the wow crowd doesn't seem to get that... one of the reasons I hated that game and didn't play pass beta

Atos was working on it I think Wednesday to remove it, it is in the standup corner thread. It will come in, in R59, but he did say last week that it will happen there may be something to counter that.

Also attenuation is not being removed, remember to keep that in mind it is decay, not attenuation. We will still be at mercy of attenuation.

So we had two penalties for death there is both armor/weapon deterioration/complete failure and exp loss; few games hold dual death penalties. It was a tad harsh and I think exploration should be encouraged. Just because it is old school doesn't necessarily make it a better option. I think it also helps groups, that are working through tougher content, get a chance to learn from each other and eventually beat the boss.

I assume you are a relatively new MMO player. Most original MMOs of the late 90's. Had corpse runs combined with death penalty, item damage, a mob taking an item from you and/or experience loss. Even vanilla WoW had these but with one of their expansions they eliminated most of that to appeal to the masses. That is why many of us old school players grumble so much about the watering down that WoW did to MMOs.

I actually enjoyed having to run back to my corpse to pick up my stuff it made me be fore careful of how much I was pulling.

    [Off-topic, well-near topic...sorry if too far off]
If you want to experience a completely different play from the norm where you actually feel like you are threatened by everything and you get exhilarated when you narrowly escape doom , then the permadeath option in FarCry Primal is for you. Hands down, the most completely different experience ever.

It works for an FPS, not for an MMO. But try it out if you have the game. I actually finished on the Hard setting and will always remember it. Lost 3 times on Expert setting and will need a year break before I try again.

    XCOM Impossible Ironman

It's punch me in the nuts good.

(Although XCOM 2 & WotC is way better, but the hardest difficult was never Impossible in that one).
