Last night I was pulled into a random encounter by a „Traveler“ and it turned out to be the travelling merchant Sandy Chapman, whom I hadn‘t encountered for years. I wasn‘t interested in purchasing anything, so I left the scene immediately after scanning the horizon and not seeing any trees or nodes to harvest.

Afterwards I started to have doubts about my quick departure. Did this scene have something interesting to offer that I missed because of my haste to leave it?

you can get an emote " heartattack", when you make him fear about his "horse" if I remember right :)

I met him a few weeks ago. And the only thing is to make some jokes with him about his horse bringing him to have a heart attack.
I decided not to do so - may be after that my shroud would be deep black ...

Would be nice to have a small quest or if he would sell -sometimes- rare drop items ;)

How does that affect your virtue?

The problem is: we don't know!
I suppose all emotes we can gain or use won't affect our virtues ...
Maybe @Sannio could tell us more about it?

I suppose a /passinggas emote would give negative to virtue.

That depends on how bad the gas is I guess.

if youre lying to him itll affect youre virtue <-----this is how you're intended to judge whether your virtue will suffer or not

If its jsut a casual conversation, it wont

Alternatively, you can always ask the oracle afterwards if you trust her

I dont trust the oracle, trying to sound like a prophet, but has watchers all over to watch, real prophets dont need watchers, they just know :) .

Basically, there are three things to do in Shandy Chapman's encounter:

    1. Joke around with him and learn the "heartattack" emote
    2. Sell off your junk loot (or buy some reagents and a few other things)
    3. Get a free round of resources (NOTE: This is BROKEN right now until the next Release in Plain Road Encounter)

That's right. It's Lars Trong. You can find him in Verdantis, North Fetid Swamp.

Yes, it's true you can learn the /heartattack emote from Shandy Chapman now. Also, he has a custom merchant package. He currently doesn't sell anything eye-popping, but the reason he has his own merchant package is so we can slip in something eye-popping at some vague point in the future.

Currently, using an emote will not affect your virtue (although I reserve the right to change that in the future).

The lack of resource nodes is a bug that will be fixed with the next major update.

The issue isn't using the emote, it's getting the emote. Apparently, you have to lie to Sandy in order to get the emote. Also, having emote use affect your virtue would be pretty crappy.

Yes, that's true. I'll confirm that the act of lying to Shandy does have a trivially negative affect on your virtue.

(Further, many times when you get a conversation choice, the choices will affect your virtue, and so far every time you select a "[Lie]" conversation choice you are adversely affecting your virtue.)

Now it would be nice if we had a choice other than lie and still get the emote, like doing a service for this NPC ;)

You should be able to talk to his son and talk him into scaring his father. You can then observe their interaction and learn the emote second-hand. It would be more entertaining to watch the Chapmans interact anyway.
