So many of us measure USPS success by the number of days it takes for a package to arrive, but don't think of the amazing logistical system required to make that happen.

So here are some fun statistics:

USPS has a lot of ground to cover and delivers mail across all of it. Germany that the OP cited is approximately 357,022 sq km in size, while United States is approximately 9,833,517 sq km.

Across that area, there are 30,825 Postal Service-managed retail post offices in the United States.

The Postal Service served 157.3 million delivery points nationwide in 2017 with 1.2 million new delivery points added to the network.

USPS are amongst the greatest logistical geniuses on the planet. Not just when they were the pony express. Just expect fewer miracles in December when they are busiest.
