What is the ultimate stupid thing you have heard of someone doing?

Today, I heard about a person who to get the leaves out of his gutters, used fire and burned his garage down. This is now my #1 stupid thing a person has done.

 

Wow, is that covered by insurance?

 

I dont know if he got insurance on it or not, I would hope not, you should have to learn from that kinda stupid.

 

This one time I saw someone install Windows 10 and in the same breath spoke of concepts such as reliability and security.

 

A few years ago when deep fried turkeys became a thing, someone I worked with bought one and never read the instructions. He put oil in, all the way to the top. Yup, to the top and turned it on. When the oil got hot he put the turkey in and hot oil went everywhere......inside his kitchen. Now everyone with common sense knows water and oil don't mix, but he tried to use a sprayer on his sink to "cool off the oil." So he pushed the oil into the dining room. The family had gone to Walmart while he was supposed to get everything going, when the wife and kids got near the house, they saw fire trucks, a police car and 1 ambulance there.
This was on Thanksgiving day, so their day and dinner were ruined. When he tried to file a claim, he was denied because they said he started the fire himself. In their official insurance response, they said, "He failed to perform due diligence in the proper use of the fryer and failed to follow the instructions clearly laid out."
It took all of the money in their kids' college fund to repair the house out of pocket.
This didn't include his friends, family and co-worker, telling him how stupid the whole thing was. Also, the police and fire department put in their report that he was drunk when they arrived and observed him. When the house was repaired, he was served with divorce papers. She got the kids and the house, which he had to go pick his kids up at for visitation, having the door answered by her new husband 6 months after the divorce was final.
So this is how 1/2 of a bottle of Jack Daniels ruined a life, a family and a house.

This Friday night after a concert I was walking back to the car and heard an ambulance /saw flashing lights - this person in an SUV decided to abort their U turn and stop in place, blocking the lane the ambulance was driving in.. they finally moved when the ambulance was directly behind them and had to stop to wait while they finished their illegal u-turn.

 

Oh man, idiots who simply stop in the middle of the road when an ambulance or fire truck comes by. Some will stop in place blocking it instead of getting out of the way, others will stop even when the emergency vehicle is going the other way, like they think they're supposed to salute it. Maybe there is something to the NPC meme.

"Some will stop in place blocking it instead of getting out of the way" -- that's what this one did.. it was so darn annoying, I was like waving my arms and like get outta the way - trying to motion to them - I thought they maybe just froze or panicked - but then I started thinking maybe they thought it was a cop coming to give them a ticket - since I'm pretty sure you're not allowed to just do a u-turn across a double yellow line - and maybe that's why they just froze? .. silly people.
