The Knight King is not evil. That ending is too predictable, in my view, like Snow and/or D winning.

Azor Azi (sp?) will be either Jamie or Sandor. Maybe Gendry.

Surprise may be The Imp is really a Targaryian.......

Tywin said it as he died; you are no son of mine. He said before I could not prove you were not mine so I had to let you live.

So long as Jamie kills Cersei, or she gets eaten by a Dragon, I'll be OK.
Arya as Queen is almost as frightening as Cersei.

It is known. When all is said and done, GRRM will be sitting on the Iron Throne.

I thought Aria said she didn't want to marry Gendry. I think Dany will Kill Jon and replace Tyrion with Jared Kushner.

Genry Baratheon should take the throne! With Aria and her sister, because, why not? :)

It is still there. Under the rubble that had fallen into the area Jamie and Cersei is, melted and now dripped down everything down there. Just collect all the pieces of molten iron and reforge it for your own! :)

Edit 05/19/2019 - now the iron throne can drip after a dose of dragon breath!

Game of Thrones ended as I thought it would.

    - Jon Snow fulfilled his destiny. One of GoT's undercurrents has been Jon's identity and what he would make of it. Not just for others. But for himself. In this episode he finally chose.

    - The question of House Targaryen was resolved. Another major undercurrent has been testing whether the ousting of the Targaryens as rulers was right. Their family had been ousted by the Lannisters. Viserys, then Dany, pushed back against this until … the end.

    - Daenerys had to go. Regardless of her progression as 'the mad queen', Dany ultimately had to die, more or less, for the above to themes of the story to be resolved.

    - The Starks finally got their day. GoT sets up the Starks from the get-go as 'past kings of the North' now under the heel of others as only wardens of the north. The Stark's position or plight is reemphasized with Eddard's death in Season 1. From one perspective, another undercurrent of the story has been Jon Snow's progress as a character to change that, which he did with his choice. An Jon effected great change. The result of his decision is that the Starks have risen to rule all of Westeros. Bran in the south, etc. Sansa in the North. And, possibly in time, Jon in the far north beyond the wall.

    - Bran was the obvious candidate for King, I thought. A first reason is that the above themes of the story could not have been resolved as well if Dany or Jon had become ruler. But a second reason is more interesting. The story had already begun to tangle the past and the future through Bran. As the Starks have now risen, who better than another who follows in the footsteps of 'Bran the Builder', the legendary founder of House Stark. And is it the same Bran? We have seen that, as the three eyed raven, Bran sees the past, present and future. And so could our Bran be, in some respects, Bran the Builder (at least sharing all of his memories?). There is a story connection here that ties together the legend of House Stark's past to its present and future through the three eyed raven. And what does the Kingdom need more right now than a builder.

    - The Lannister's, while prominent, arguably were the plot device that set all of the above in motion, by ousting the Targaryens in the first place to set up the dynamic of all of these themes. They were what created the 'imbalance in the force' that created the initial questions in the story that needed to be resolved. They died as the need to have them as a story catalyst had ended.

    - There were plenty of secondary characters who could have been made King or Queen of the 7 (or 6) Kingdoms. But in the end that would not have resolved the story in quite this way. While Brad might have felt like a neutral choice because he is crippled and cannot have an heir, I dont see that as so. Selecting another character would have been much less meaningful for concluding the themes above.

Overall I think the writers did a nice job taking this to conclusion, ahead of the last two books coming out. It will be interesting to see how George RR Martin ends it.
