    @Chris @DarkStarr @Bzus

With crafting specialisation being rolled out in R66 can we get some confirmation on how it will work so that we can start planning our builds?

All we have really been told so far is that we can choose one specialisation and then we can pick our masterworks (or enchants for alchemy) but do we have an idea of how this will actually work?

Do we just go buy the skill from the trainer and its then done? Will it basically be a tickbox choice or will we have to level it? If we level it do we know what the projected xp cost will be or what the benefits of getting it to level 1, 80, 100 or 120? Are any other crafting changes coming out along side specialisation?

If crafting spec will be just choosing of exact effects it will be EPIC FAIL. Hope it will be delayed and hope it will be more complicated than just choosing effects...

Mean while I'm still hoarding all of my gold until then. First it was supposed to be released in March. At this point I might as well spend some of that gold because my armor is nearly 2 years old.

The pixel crack is fine, but I'd like to see more work on game mechanics. There are a lot of patches to the design that have to be resolved.

Crafting specialization is a major improvement to core game design and a much anticipated update to the crafting component of the game as a whole.

I doubt there will be any additional pixels of any kind included aside from low def UI icons

The only information they have given out so far is that you will only be allowed one specialization and that it will allow you to choose the effect from enchant/masterwork (so I assume that it will only be available for the bottom 5 skill trees).

If it does work out to be a "Pick the specific Enchant/MW" sort of system it will probably damage the economy pretty badly. I'd rather see them do something like grant extra options for every so many levels into spec and maybe an increased success chance or reduced damage on fails. No spec = 3 choices, 40 = 4, 80 = 5. (Just examples, I have no idea how many choices would actually be fair).

Another delay in the core features of Q2 will totally kill my hype for the game. It will be a confirmation of a maintance mode for SOTA

The RNG is what has been wrong with crafting since day 1. Its about time something's going to be done about it.
But I don't think specialization is the answer. Specialization should add something...special, not band-aid broken core mechanics.
But I suppose its better than nothing, and people have had a year to get their army of alts levelled up and ready to specialize to retain their self sufficiency so its not really going to change anything in that regard.

Will it change the economy? Absolutely. But an economy in which finished products are worth less than raw materials by a significant margin, and there's no point in making anything - well, it needs changin'. We'll all adjust - we have before, every single time the economy gets manipulated by new changes.

I'd love to hear details about how its going to work, because the entire crafting community has been holding its breath waiting for these changes for months now, people's gear is wearing down to threads but nobody wants to dump hundreds of thousands of gold into making a new set of gear if they're going to finally get rid of the RNG. If they keep it simple, and give what was promised - ie, no more RNG - it will be well received. But history has taught us all to be cautious, and I guess in the back of my mind I'm still worried its going to be something like "choose your bonuses - if you add cotos to the table. " or "choose your bonuses, pay 10x the ingots or requires 500 coal now" or "choose your bonuses, but if you fail, the item breaks again" or some other implementation that will make us no better off than we are now. I really hope not.

Why? That's what was demanded in the first place since years. So without further clarification I fail to see the issue.

I just worry that removing the RNG will damage the economy more than it will help. Don't get me wrong, RNG doesn't feel good in general. I have wasted piles of gold and silver trying to make some specific bow or sword, whatever I am into at the time. That sucks for me, but it was good for a few vendors selling the materials I needed at the time.

A way the "Pick your own" thing could be semi-implemented would be via an extra MW/Enchant option (Added with specialization) like the durability options, that let you have a free re-roll of that attempt at no durability cost. That would scale with the bonus choices idea from my earlier post (More choices = better chance for the option you want as a chance to reroll if you don't get what you want). This would still keep some RNG in the system to eat peoples mats and keep the gatherers happy, as well as give people a better chance at getting what they want than they have currently.

Disclaimer: I don't craft to sell, mostly just to make things for myself and once in awhile a guild-mate. So I am probably missing something from the market side of things.

Imho more options being added will suck. There's too many options that can show up already, we need a way to narrow it down. Or have the spec only offer the options associated with it. Just my 2cents/suggestion.

    Some points:
Because RNG is bad yes, but best combinations of ench and stats are well known for both pve and pvp gear.
With RNG high-end player always try to buy gear not to make it by himself because he understand that he can get the fail streak and spend a huge amount of money/time and get nothing.
When I get this with the existing system I was so excited: [IMG].
With no RNG such gear examples will be just "Ok I spend money, I made it " With no RNG I would made any gear which I need by myself, and would not buy it on the market.
Another point ok I choose spec, what is the reason to push it to 100? 120?

Same. Aside from the day to day consumables (scrolls/potions/food), i've done very little crafting lately. Why? because i'm waiting for specialization. I feel like doing anything until that comes along is simply a waste of resources. So what am i doing? stockpiling...
