Three months and I still have not seen one tree I can chop.

Have been playing for almost three years but only recently got back really into questing. The outskirts quests seemed to fix themselves in the last month or so I am thankful for that. But now that I have a house I am looking for some basic furniture I assume I can craft. Which I also assume I need wood. While I have found a few wood piles and scraps, I have never seen a tree or resource I can gather for wood.
Am I just not looking in the right places? I think my foraging skill is up there I can see plants and ore deposits easily.
    Am I missing something?

look for the trees that have brown leaves on them. Those are the ones you can chop down. There are two types: Maple and Pine.

Maple trees have a grey bark with brown leaves. Pine trees have a red bark with brown leaves. Your cursor will turn into an ax when it is over the tree.

A graphics bug also shows the cut seam when they are illuminated with a torch or light spell.

This allows you to see them from pretty far away, which is nice. As you get closer, you will notice their bark texture really stands out from the other trees too.

    There's only three ways of learning this game that are effective;
    • Ask a friend
    • Ask a guild mate
    • Ask the forums
I've been with our game for a very long time and I still ask all three very basic questions about our game :)~Time Lord~

If only clicking on speedtrees generated this message:

'unfortunately this tree is a protected species, please look for Maple and Pine!"

Ideally (almost) any tree should be choppable!

I am also remembering to pay attention to what resources are available in an area before I enter it. Like everything else in this game once you learn what to look for then it seems so simple :)

Sorry to say but best ever low tier for trees i have found is Kingsroad in Hidden Vale. By the time you make one circle around they are respawned and ready again. And you can get both Pine and Maple.

I personally recommend South Longfall Road, near Aerie. It’s a Tier 3 area. It has (almost) every single harvestable resource in the game. Just be careful of the mobs if you are low level. ;)

Welcome to the game. Sorry you missed the trees for so long. In this game you have to point at things to notice them quite often. Things like signs which is the only way you see what they say. Also some details are hidden from view until you use the control key like all the locations you have marked so far on your teleport to zone scrolls. If you don't have one yet you should have one eve if you use it just to look at the description of scenes. I'm Majoria in game and I'd be happy to send you a few just whisper me or send a mail message to me in game anytime.

Actually, the Player Guide (accessible in-game by clicking on the Symbol at the upper right of the screen or at http://shroudoftheavatar.com/playerguide) is pretty good for most things. Often I refer to it before answering a question asked by a fellow player. In this case the Guide fails utterly. I couldn't find an image or description of the harvestable maple and pine trees. :(

Hah, I'll bet it doesn't have coal or even serpent scales. Does it at least have coconuts or salt?

If you are low level and need some help mob clearing let me know. In game I'm "Sentinel" and often in game. I'm happy to party up with you and show you around. I'll even clear the road for you to harvest resources. As long as it's not a Tier 10 area, I should be able to help you out.

    :)

My next favorite if you dont mind T4 zone is Serpent Spine Foothills. Awesome place for just about everything....well except silver and gold. But plenty of reagents, cotton, trees, copper and iron. And good for hides. And the bandits there are nice enough to keep you on your toes and willing to part with some loot. LOL
