That is a very authoritarian statement Devil, You essentially said, that people should have to conform themselves to fit the random item they were forced to use, instead of being allowed to be who they want to be and play the game they want to play. " In Soviet Russia, sword swings you."

no but they could be build in a way that they still can be sold for profit so other people can use it

From a small time crafter, while I can make a decent to good Weapon from time to time, I do actually use those horrible badly crafted weapons.

My new Bludgeon Dude is currently running around with 2 of the worst mastercrafted maces I’ve ever made, and copper armor when gathering certain resources, like say crocodile carcasses. I just use them as disposable weapons. His skills are of course really good, so even with the worst weapons EVAR, he gets by just fine.

I currently don’t sell weapons, I just don’t have the adequate stock of raw materials to even do that though.

I would prefer a mini-game to the RNG for success chance at crafting/MW/enchants.

Check out the FFXIV crafting system sometime. It's really well done.

I have worked around the crafting system for myself. I have spent probably 5,000,000 in game gold to obtain gear I am happy with. I have given up the dream of making gear for others at a profit, it just is not possible. I wish it was not this way. I feel for those who do not want to gather and craft. These people are up against the awful situation that people like me will not gamble creating really good gear to sell because of the great risk that buyers will dry up when they see the cost. Then I will be holding gear that costs many millions to make and it will just be sitting in my bank. So I don't do it. That said, I worry that this situation will drain too much developer time to correct, threatening the survival of our game. The bug forum is getting huge. So many little things across all areas of the game. I just think that putting the crafting system on the back burner for a bit would be the correct move. I hate that but sadly I think it is necessary.

Made a third edit to my second post

for a another suggestion to keep RNG but fix the issues posed.

This is where you invert what bonuses you get for what.

So material of components determines the stats and skill boosts and attunement for wands. As these are the specific things you are looking for and are MUST haves on piece for it to be useful.
Then the MW and ENC add value with more generic stuff that is nice to have.

Currently it the other way around. The specific MUST haves are all the RNG and the this helps but does not make the item useful are in the components.
