So if I am not mistaken, here, we aren't concerned about the "Everyone can do everything" aspect of it, but more about the "It's too much RNG" aspect of it, right? I mean I don't think Elrond or others were arguing that being able to craft everything was an issue, but more that it takes HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of items to make that 1 special one, and considering the ressource cost, this was not worth it. so If they do find a way to fix the RNG somehow, even if someone could potentially raise all the "specialization" skills they are adding, it would solve the issue right?

I agree with your point, if your point actually is that to fix the market the RNG has to be fixed somehow, due to the cost of ressources to make 1 item, but for those saying this "No Crafting Specialization" is what is ruining the economy, I disagree to an extreme here.

Well many people are making stuff and trying to sell it - supply isn't the problem, demand is.

Because many items on sale don't have the right combination of MW/Enchants, fix the RNG somehow and items will sell far more, don't force crafters to make alts or ask other to have the right item, it won't make the item sell more.

#1) You can't call it "Specialization" when you're allowed to do it in everything. What you're doing is the exact, bi-polar opposite of specialization. Call it something different.
#2) So now we get to spend millions of XP to re-roll dice that determine an effect that a very skilled crafter (who is intentionally crafting a weapon/armor to have a specific effect) can put on the item they are making. Gotcha. makes perfect sense. (not really).

Just really upset that what's being implemented is the exact opposite of what was promised and hyped for months.

Or when they are slick enough to craft their own armor/weapons (128 blacksmith from scrapping).

I will make my stuff and give my favorite GM Enchanter/MW a sizable tip in Gold/Silver ingots plus bring required mats.

No alts here bud, one pirate is more than enough “Grins”. R/Boris/El Pirata/Black Sails Forever

Does this surprise you...or anyone, for that matter? Promises are rarely kept around here.

Whether that's crafting, rarity of digital rewards, empty row lots, quest/story overhaul, work on episode 2, etc. etc. The list could go on and on.

Agreed, I think what has happened is that the idea of specialization is gone now, and there's just going to be a crafting pass, for better or worse. But Atos has the word "specialization" stuck in his head, and will probably keep referring to it as such.

The more I think about it, the more I think the best way to implement an actual "specialization" is to make the MW/Ench skills themselves be 10M (or maybe even 20M) skills, but not make them suck after GM. Producer XP is hard to come by (not to mention the quantity of ingots it would require); if you want to be the best at masterworking swords, you're not really going to be able to put XP into anything else to achieve that.

From the R67 Release Thread :
People were talking about the fact that they stopped calling it Specialization in the release thread, so I think apart from the fact that Chris is a broken record constantly using the term "Specialization", this topic had already been adressed before we were aware that Specialization was no longer a specialization.

Indeed I think that is the problem too. I could create many items myself but still try to buy them from regional vendors but I do that not always and I guess there are lots of avatars who never buy anything (aside of maybe resources and Cotos) and just want to sell their own stuff. So either you make crafting that complicated/difficult that the larger part of the crowd is avoiding the pain of crafting or you make it that way that not everyone can create the best possible items. Of course there are always the ones who will try to create alts to be self-sufficient but if you make the crafting as a specialists rewarding, interesting and challenging I guess the number of people who have the time to create multiple alts and keep them up to date will be small.

I think combat gear is (normally) just a small part of the crafting economy but I guess the one with the highest profit.
I would guess normally combat gear is around 1/10 of the crafting economy but at least 6/10 of sales. Resource gathering and selling I would see at 5/10 of the economy and the remaining 4/10 are decorations, food, potions, RP gear,…
Also I would guess combat gear is normally more an order business especially in an RNG environment. I personally see gear at vendors e.g. as the not total crap failures while trying to create an ordered item that someone is trying to find a customer for...but of course this might be a wrong impression. *shrugs*

Brother; you hit the nail on the head. There is no End Game period. You grind and grind and no special reason except to kill the next higher level mob or player. Until they see the light and give us real battlefield options with bonuses for xp/mats/crafting options available when in control of a location it’s just one timesink and exercise in continuous futility.

Give us catapults/siege equipment/firing cannons and bring some life into this game. R/Boris/El Pirata

If you are a dedicated crafter, you have a lot of excess stock because the RNG makes you fail to make something you want specifically, so you have to keep trying. Its not worth salvaging these, as you'll never recover anything, so you might as well try to sell them for something.

Don't mistake Specialization (which is a new skill in the various trees) with the Grandmaster Effects, which were additional options that would be added to the choices when masterworking/enchanting when you have very high skills in the existing skills. Both have been discussed, and both have constantly been delayed.

Grinding goes up, decisions go down. We are back to everyone can do everything and you won't need anybody else. That's what MMO's are all about, right?

Yahy I don't need to level my alt anymore! Me like!

I can see why people don't like this decision, though.

I'm glad I waited to level alts. I'd have been really annoyed if I spent any length of time doing so.

Exactly. If it's "spend 2 million XP to get a 3% chance to re-roll when master working/enchanting".....forget about it.

Oh, and by the way...your re-roll doesn't guarantee anything better. In fact, it could be worse.

The sheer amount of XP necessary to level specializations is going to pretty much preclude anyone being "everything". Add to that the fact that they've significantly reduced the ways you can get crafting XP (I.e., the old method where you could create the same item with different mats to get the initial crafting XP boost multiple times).

Wouldnt this be a detriment to new players and a boon to people with DEEP pockets who buy up massive amounts of regs and macro all day?

Considering the game has a diminishing returns mechanic where it costs exponentially more to go past 80, New players can reach a "Workable" level pretty fast, while veterans can still spend millions for that 0.1 increase in their enchants/masterworks, so it isnèt too bad IMO
