@Chris has mentioned it on a stream - don't know what kind of issues are still there...
Maybe @DarkStarr knows something about? ;)
Still hoping it will be solved soon ...

    Thanks P.M.! :)

That is good news, let's hope it makes it into the game sometime soon!

The last I heard was that changing row lots to have the ability to have no house would make it reset everyone's house. So there has to be a separate type of row house that has the option to have no house. I'm sure there could be a work-around for this but who knows what that is. I believe eventually a solution will be found even if it is the new deed option. Perhaps there is a row deed upgrade that says no house ability. That way it is in the user's hands to make that happen instead of changing something overall that will affect already placed row deeds. @Bzus @Chris

Wow, thanks for the intel Majoria! We definitely don't want people's row lots getting wiped, so hopefully there is a fix for this somehow. A housing deed that sets the lot as empty would be fine by me. :)

Why not introduce a migration deed / item. That changed the "old" row to the "new" row and give the people the standard row house to their inventory. So everyone can migrate the row lot to the new one at their pace.
After 6 month or so, all "old" rows are migrated to the new type and the old one is removed from game (without giving out a row house). That gives every player half a year to migrate their row lot.

Don’t see why they couldn’t just use a regular house, but make it with no house model on it. I would think that would work? Though I don’t fully know what exactly is on each of the different houses you can switch too.

All other deed types are empty by default. Also a row lot can by set to empty, right now. But if you doing this, it will automatically switch to the current standard row house. It looks a little hard-coded. I guess when they remove this part of code, a row deed will behave like every other deed in game, and that means a lot of empty row lots. Including the ones that are claimed and people are using the standard house. Like @majoria70 said.
Without a house on a lot everything counts against external deco limit and that is not much on a row.

May it works if every row owner place another house then the standard house on their row, before all rows are set to empty by default.

Are all other lots vacant by default, though? Obviously, many of them are. But in the offline game, many of the within-city-limits lots come with a variety of houses already there by default, not just the rows. I haven't seen an online NPC town with unclaimed lots yet, but I was assuming the same was true online, and that people were just switching to new houses after claiming the lots. I'd taken it for granted that if a lot had a default house in offline mode, then in online mode the lot owner would have access to the same house -- i.e., that a lot that wasn't empty offline wouldn't revert to empty if unclaimed online.

Suppose it doesn't really matter, just trying to understand what the problem could be.

those default houses on unclaimed lots don't work like row houses. they're just there for flavor while the lot is unclaimed, but when you claim it you get an empty lot.

Hmm. That strikes me as a bad idea. Since the devs put the effort into building attractive town environments, you'd think they'd want to go for any method that allowed the ambience they created to last longer. Still, glad to know in advance, before I tried buying any of those. I know my first home offline was NOT a default house -- still a row lot, but a three-story one (before they were given out free) that stayed after I claimed the lot. So I definitely would have assumed that other lots worked the same.

Chris mentioned today that he was still working on the empty Row Lot. I’ll assume if he doesn’t have any problems with it, he said it might make it in this release. Just FYI. :D

Starr said not to rely on dates. They won't be giving any done dates to rely upon. I'd believe that? Nope. I believe Chris although he will probably be raked for doing it. I am hoping sooner than later this happens. People need this.

Chris just said it'll be in with a patch on Monday he still needs to increase the default deco limit.
