Get Owen's recipe. I need help.

Spoilers within and with replies I figure.


Is there a certain key that is needed? I selected ghost key, the middle option iirc. I'm at a chest in Serpent Foothills, can't open it. I tried retalking with the guy who gave me the key prior to going to the foothills, but no more options. Anyone help? thanks.

 

I had to relog to get the chest open.

 

I've tried that, hasn't worked for me yet. recall what key option u picked?

 

It was the same - Owen's secret key.

 

I had to hover over the keyhole for the chest to open, it does give an error message with the correct key.

 

Yep. I just hovered over the keyhole and it worked. Fill a little stupid now, but the agro is bad in that area, and they respawn quick, so sort of been in panic mode. I also play with the camera far back since agro range is large in this game, compared to others I've played.

 

Did this yesterday, and had to not loot any of the bandits, then unlocked the chest and the false door. Got the quest item, and then just looted the bodies. They do spawn a bit fast there.

 

the chest is in not in serpent foothills, so you may be at the wrong chest. I spent like an hour grinding the correct zone for the chest looking for a cabin. REREAD the quest, and i was amazed when i just blew straight in stealthed and got the recipe in under a minute. it works o.0

they removed the mechanic where not looting would keep them from respawning within the last few months. can't find a reference, may have been a chris stream.

 

There is a chest in Serp Spine Foothills by the bandit camp ...cabin being built. The other one was in West Sanctum Forest by the Ruins. So there are two chests and depending on what you say to Owen will determine what one you go after....also Virtue comes into play i think when he asks the question to help him.
I ended up going to West Sanctum. I only found the one in Serp Spine cause i was out that way chopping wood later in the day and found the cabin in that bandit camp
