Sound the Trumpets: We have a Newspaper! TheAvatar.Express

Hear ye, hear ye!

@that_shawn_guy and I have been working on a Shroud of the Avatar newspaper (on the web), and today we announce its existence!

TheAvatar.Express is intended to be your one stop, quick headline twitter age location to find all of the news.

While there will sometimes be feature length editorials, for the most part this is news for the age, short, to the point, 90% of the info is in the headline.

So bookmark the site and come back often!

Spoiler: Do you have an event(s)?

We have an events calendar. While there are many great calendars out there, this one will also be great! And it is sitting right next to the news, so if you are having an event you want to be here! For single events, message me here or in Discord.

If you are a regular host of an event, designate someone the Scribe so they can get in the habit of regularly posting, and have them fill out the Be A Contributor form.

We have several writers signed up so far, but can always use more. If you are a regular viewer of the livestream, please consider joining! As you see from the current articles, it couldn't be simpler and your time commitment will be almost zero. But by posting the tidbits you will be helping so many of your fellow Avatars!

Anyone interested in contributing please fill out the Be A Contributor form. It will get sent to shawn, and he will have you reporting the news, or making the art, in no time!

Awesome! One of the things I missed from Lotro is they used to have a paper, they had interviews with players, location views, even a cooking corner ^_^ (discovered a bacon crumble apple pie from that ^_-) they dropped the paper a long while back now though. Glad to see something like this for Shroud!

But you'll be better off checking regularly as well.

 

I would love to but nope, not going to happen. The book editing interface is just too clunky. It takes me a day to print up my catalogs, and I pretty much dread it for months.

I'd rather make sure the news gets put out somewhere than no where becomes I'm staring at the print press while crying.

Maybe one day we will be able to import from websites, that would change everything.

 

But, but, I have a collection of your catalogs! Keep them coming! lol

 

Off to a good start. I'll certainly be keeping my eye on this.

 

I'm waiting for wood prices to normalize before I print again. Or for me to just give in and accept the new way of things.

I wonder how much arm-twisting it'd take to have a permanent link in the global MOTD. Tactfully, of course. The big danger here is out-of-sight-out-of-mind.

I'll post a flyer on the bulletin boards in NoMa to adverise the site...great work!

 

You guys and some private messages made me realize that regarding the printing of articles in game I have been thinking about it all wrong.

If anyone wants to run with that idea, you've got our blessing. Do credit the author in your paper, as I hope that there will be more than me putting up stories soon.

And along that line, if you've got events or want to put up stories, it takes almost no time! Please join us!

 

This does make we want to request a "newspaper" pattern that we can apply to books, to complete the look in our inventory at least. (@Chris @DarkStarr @Lord British)
