Do you know which program he does these in? Are they compatible with Unity? I think he does beautiful work. It would be nice if Ep 2 could have scene look difference. Using the same old same old over and over again is not nearly as interesting well imo, but truly it won't be all about that of course. ;)

They're static wallpapers. If I'm not mistaking, he uses some 3D raytracing apps. http://digitalblasphemy.com/faq.shtml has some more information. I've had a subscriptions for well over a decade at this point and would love to his landscapes art inspire some other artists. It's a little selfish, but I want to explore some of the worlds he's given us a window into.

If the developers upgrade to Unity 2019, they'll have access to HDRP (High Definition Render Pipeline), which means better looking models (after they upgrade the models).

I wonder if there are still plans to do a mobile port. In that case, they'd probably use Unity's other build-in Scriptable Render Pipeline (SRP): the Lightweight Render Pipeline (LWRP), which supports mobile devices.
Didn't Atos mention that the graphics will be more stylized, which would support the use of LWRP.

At least, the new rendering system is multi-threaded so it would utilize multiple CPU cores. I recall Atos mentioning that SotA's performance is currently CPU bound due to the single threaded nature of Unity's legacy rendering system. So, using SRP should give SotA a performance boost.

Some of the screens and demos from this version showing the hdrp are breathtaking. I'm far from sure but I thought that the SOTA Devs were heading this way @Chris ?
