Idea: can Night Vision @ level 80 give a small bonus to fishing at night? And at GM, it gives a decent bonus to fishing at night?

Maybe moon spec gives a big bonus to fishing at night at GM Night Vision?

    :)

Ive got two new guys in my guild who joined the game, saw the fishing, and have been spending all of their time doing it. At least 2 player ran events per release are fishing related, and Fishing is from what Ive seen the 2nd most popular group finder activity, so I doubt it is as bad as you say it is, might just not be up to your standards, but it has become a fun activity for many.

The issue with fishing right now is it is incomplete. Once the initial novelty wears off you are just left with the social aspect. You may as well form a group and stand chatting around a campfire.

Fishing enhancement seems to have stalled. Id love to be corrected but ive seen nothing from the Devs indicating an upgrade is in the plans.

Fishing needs a skill tree, it needs collections, rewards, mini quests, weather, day night and season specific species catches, etc.

Maybe it is in hand, the infrastructure is there. I hope its not just limited to the occasional rare catch of a bit of jewelry or a quest starter in a bottle, that wouldn't be enough to make fishing a real feature and a viable long term pastime in my view.

The Treasure Map system, for episode 2 will be for fishing. If I am recalling correctly.

Night vision tree, now we're talkin!

    :D

Or is this fishing tree discussion?
Basically I would add a descriptor in the fishing tooltip indicating the bonus

Avast! Wouldst thou even fish with greater skill even with such a bonus?
    This is why I ask..

Hail! Now it seems it could even be a moon magic affinity correlation, what a mess!

They need to also be found as loot.

Having the treasure maps tied to fishing, would finally give the skill actual value though.

But who knows what the hell they will do... :p

I don't care about fishing but I do care about treasure hunting.

What if the maps came from fishing and were tradable? You could fish then up yourself, or if you prefer you could trade with other players for them.

I never suggested that they shouldn't come from fishing, just that they should also come from loot.

Personally I had hoped fishing bonus would be included in the specialty bait I've been saving forever. Even flashing lights in the water, night fishing and so on. Even leveled up skill levels to 100-104. Doesn't seem to make much difference if any. I think it's completely random... so far.

Been fishing some in ESO (Yes, that game again) . pulled in some prize fish. I think someone mentioned a leaderboard there but I'll have to check. Might be cool to include in SOTA :hint hint:

Also Hiding should play a role - a hidden or stealthed fishermal should be less a visible danger to the fish.
And while we are at it - even fishing in WoW is more action, since you have to watch your fload and act, if it goes down.
This is better than simply click and wait.

I still say alcohol should have bonus to fishing.

No, no, no. Fishing should give a bonus to drinking! (It's the old drinking village with a fishing problem problem.) I jest, though.

And my real comment below will sound even wackier and irreverent, but I'm at least 53.7% serious.

What I really wanted to say was exclusive and sometimes tiny, sometimes huge bonuses for water type or specific fish granted from type of alcohol . . . (badly stated) . . . for instance, drinking 12 Edelmann beer (and only 12) giving a massive bonus in the morning only for types of cod and other "white fish" (whatever that might be). Another example: White wine giving a king salmon bonus on Tuesday afternoons (game calendar, not real-world calendar). Crazy, specific, sometimes nonsensical, often funny and punny--it would take us years to figure it out, eh? Why Tuesdays? I dunno. Stupid bloody Tuesday.
