Bard skills & weapons

    Maybe bards can be wield musical weapons?
    1. A multi-string bow that can be used as a harp?
    2. A drum stick that can be used as a mace?
    3. a flute that can be used as a blow-gun?

    When switching from playing the instrument to attacking with the instrument, there would be a delay (like when you deck swap) - which would represent the extra time required to move the instrument into "play" position or "attack" position.

    Also perhaps bard skills can include:
    1. Confuse/Distract Beast
    2. Sonic Impact - a AOE that does damage and chance to knock back (perhaps this would make them "immune" to music related debuffs for a short time becuase the blast would impair their hearing for a while).
    3. Harmonic fury - damage to a single creature.
    4. Mega-Hurts (aka Megahertz) - okay, this one is a joke: A powerful sound, that hits with a big hurt.:p

    As long as we can play whatever instrument/abc file we want while activating the different skills, I'm in.

    There will be nothing more boring than having to play one song to create a certain effect.

    I love the thoughts to get a bard tree. How will this affect the ability to sync songs or will it? This is a great past time in SOTA as well. Just curious.

    Do you mean something like this: In combat, having more bards playing a synchronized song could give greater buffs to players & debuffs to enemies. The more Bards playing, the greater the effect.
    Example: one playing harp of invigoration, the other playing fleet flute - but both playing the same tune...so the party gets say 120% of the typical buffs from each instrument.
    This would lend greater strategy when forming a party...gotta get the right balance of melee, healing, and bards.

    I guess it could be overpowered a but...but its a cool concept.

    Mostly, but forget fleet flute and harp, bard skills shouldn't be tied to gear. It can enhance, but a bard can play on a crafted flute.

    And yes, get 2 bards playing a song and their effects combine. That's two less people dealing damage, so it should stack, as @Chris always said, there must be a tradeoff. Well, 7 people playing for one guy, that's 7 people not fighting. Give some big buffs!

    Im sure there are so many copyright issues, but like cannibalism.... DayZ has local audio which can be used to stream music aside from voice.... is it just a copyright issue that forces us to use midi instead of high quality audio?

    I hope there'll be changes to brewing to allow supplement bard skills. ie. Different beers/whiskey/wine to give different buff to bard skills.

    Had a thought when the talk about associating an optional song to a skill popped up. Wonder if it would be possible to expand the tech linking a crafting tool to a crafting school and have equippable sheet music slots for each skill. Could be optional or could just require collecting the already in game sheet musics Rule Britannia and The Baron of Eastmarch. That way the defaults could be used, but players could add color if they wanted. Groups could coordinate beforehand to understand what song is what effect and thus change the tempo of battle according to the music if they are well orchestrated.

    I'd like to see bards overlay a 2nd or even 3rd harmonic on top of the melody they're playing on the musical instrument. While non-bards can produce a single beneficial effect or bonus, bards can cast up to 3.

    Since we have bards coming in will we be able to make instruments that have stats like wands, weapons and such?

    if so

    Will the current instrument artifacts change to have stats like other artifacts?


    A wizard has a staff like a bard has a lute?

    I'd like to see the material bonuses on instruments have some effect on the bard skills.

    I wouldnt like to have more strength int dex stuff for it tho, cuz stats aare already super-inflated these days.

    The most obvious are all the obvious would be to enhance the skills in the bard tree.

    But if you could cast magic while barding, which maybe you can, since they use words to cast...

    but with massive fizzle penalty, since your hands are busy (larger penalty than plate gauntlets)

    (and flutes, well those won't work)

    Anyway, if you can cast while playing, then enhancements to spells would be viable enchanctments/mws as well.
