The Yearly Snow Walker Migration has begun!!

Come quickly and meet the Snow Walkers of the Elysium Mountains as they come down from their peaky homes and wander the town, valley, and mountains in Jade Valley on Elysium Island south of Novia.

Jade Valley locals are not sure why Jade Valley is the destination of choice for these hundreds of Snow Walkers but there has been speculation that the jade dragons in the valley are of interest. It has been noticed that the Snow Walkers travel with Snow Dragons. The relationship between the two is still unclear.

Every year as the temperature drops, Snow Walkers begin a slow migration down from the mountains on Elysium Isle and into the Jade Valley.

They shop, visit their friends and family, and resupply with food and various yearly needs for the coming winter. (They seem to hibernate in the highest peaks of the island’s mountain range during the hot summer months.)

    But that’s not all!

This time of year is their relaxing vacation time before they ascend to their hidden peaks and go back to their regular lives. They are Kickin’ It and rolling around the valley with abandon. The misadventures and adventures they get into in the valley are legendary with the locals. Many a winter night is spent retelling the tales of the Snow Walkers in the coming year. Their homes are unknown to even our best trackers. They seem to disappear and reappear only when they wish to be seen.

Come and see em!! They are in fine form!!

Snow Walkers can be found around the Jade Valley taking in the sites,

    Historical and Social Notes:

For years the various scholars of the Jade Dragons Guild have tracked and observed the movements and habits of the Snow Walkers. The following is what we know.

    Habitat Range:

No one is really sure where the Snow Walkers came from. The main speculation and current scientific arguments are whether they were snow given life, or people that lived so long in the high peaks they became snow, or if the Obsidians used their twisted magic to create them. Their origins are still a mystery that may never be known.

They have been observed rising from the snow in the peaks and are assumed to be hibernating for the hot summers in the snow packs of the highest mountains. There are records of Snow Walkers visiting other towns in Novia but we believe the Jade Valley has one of the largest Snow Walker gathering at this seasonal visit to town.

    Basic Communication:

This has been achieved to a point. Somehow, even though they have no ears that can be seen, they can hear and understand us. But due to a mouth that appears to be made of coal they can not speak. At least they’ve never had anything to say yet that we know of. Always they just give a wide smile when asked a question. A simple nod of the head yes or no is all we can achieve and they don’t like to answer long questions. Many of our market vendors have grown accustomed to this and simple point at everything till a yes nod is seen.

    Shopping Habits:

This is well documented. Coal and carrots seem to fulfil their most basic needs. The more common Snow Walkers seem to have a fancy for colorful hats and scarves and the more affluent of their kind even wear jackets and mittens of much fancier styles. No one has discovered where they get their gold but it is presumed to be found high in the mountains. (unsubstantiated)

    Social Classes:

It has been noted that a few Snow Walkers are much more dressy than the average Snowperson. It is believed these Snow Walkers hold a higher social class within the group. Possible they are royalty or merchants or whatever a Snowperson considers important enough to need more clothing. Snow Dragons dress is sparse.

    Reproduction:

Knowledge of the total mating and reproduction habits of the Snow Walkers is very limited. It has been observed when it gets very cold the Male Snow Walker can be seen throwing Snowballs at the Female Snow Walker. Sometimes the females will blush at this, as if showing interest in a male. The females will begin throwing Snowballs at the males (perhaps a signal of acceptance.)

This clearly excites the males, who then reach right inside their snowy bodies and pull out a single icicle of various thicknesses and lengths. The females band together and hold unwanted suitors off with a large collection of snowballs. They gather together to pelt away the males that are not acceptable. When a male is acceptable to the female group then a female will break away from the others, and let the chosen male chase her. Quickly the male gives chase to the female. At this point no one has been able to keep up with them to find out further details of courting and mating rituals. Snow Walkers are fast.

Mal Hari wrote it. I put it in the events section because that's all I knew how to do but it would be good for the front page. I don't yet know how to do that
