I would not say blades suck with specialisation, extra healing mod debuff on rend, additional healing mod chance on thrust and coup de grace earlier are great for high HP boss killing. Which seems to be what blades excels at.
Unfortunately with boss respawn timers, which are there for loot limitation not XP, killing bosses is not the way to get loads of XP per hour.

I did went to UT yesterday, my searing ray non crit was hitting 38-50 on the normal lich mage.

Banish Undead Crits were 300ishh instead of 600+.

It sure is a big change, I did respeced, to death.. ahahaha now im even more limited to what I can kill.

Like I said, I dont mind nerfs, as they are to balance and make the game better.

What they really need to focus on is Xp/Loot on smaller zones to promote adventuring much more. And that should help new players alot too.

Not only smaller zones, getting only 38 gold from a cabalist is really stupid.

I have been playing 5+ years and been nerfed (balanced) a lot. That said I have overcome it each time and keep moving forward. Even with all the balances to me it does not matter as everyone is affected. This means you will still be in the top 10% but just not hitting the numbers you use to have. In the end I welcome more challenges and look forward to seeing ep2 come with even harder things. just my thoughts :)

Brother Xee; I am glad you have a positive outlook for EP2. I have previously mentioned many things in order to have EP2 be a “Bold Statement of Intent” but not quite so optimistic. Maybe a chain/plate equivalent to the bandit set could bring melee up to where it should be and maybe @Elgarion can use those infamous “GM” powers to schedule and manage monthly invasions of Novian cities like the ones done by Cerus of Travian games back in mid/late 2018. @Chris said we have the resources so let’s do that for as the OP said “bring pleasure back into the game”. Hmmmm. Yes... (tapping fingers together maniaclly) attacking the masses of New Britannia would bring me much joy... muwhaha… muwhahahah… MUWHAHAHAHAHAHHA! ;)

Joking aside, yes this would be fun. I'll put a program together where we do this once in a while. Give me a bit.

The problem doesn't affect just UT and adventuring, PVP situation has reached its all-time low.
Ransoms removal even if the goal was to bring new PVP players in the scene, is keeping away most of veteran PVPers, many with whom I spoke just stopped PVPing cause lack of reason, despite what is believed ransoms were considered a sort of reason to fight for some top players.
Now with new attenuation cap almost everyone are sitting in control points unflagged reaching as soon as possible their attenuation cap, PVP scenes are a desert except for some new players, for example i think i've never seen anyone even zoning in Tartarus PVP maze since the safe one is far better in terms of challenge, experience and loots.
I'm still trying to understand what's the reason of so low rates in PVP zones compared to safe ones after all this time and discussions about it.
Add to that instant teleport scrolls without cooldown, private mode, overland map, flagging/unflagging anywhere/anytime using party system, everything looks so empty even if the population of very new players seems to have grown.
Everyone is acting like zombies, trying to get more exp they can, i have to be honest, with lower cap atleast people used to play even for other aspects of the game when attenuation was reached.

Game is not fun anymore for me, the gap between offline mode and MMO is getting thinner every release.
The increasing incentive for semi-afk xp sitting grinding in private mode conquered the game while at the same time disincentive and punishment for who doesn't embrance this kind of gameplay is getting stronger day by day.

PS: Seems also that now attenuation is not even possible in any PVP zone if I'm not missing something :(

Wait till Ep2 zones appear and everyone is in them except new players. It will really feel empty.

@Antrax Artek ; I know you have a passion for PvP and I respect it. I do as well though I cannot PvP myself out of a paper bag as we say here often.

A while back we had some good battles with one main detriment which was the lack of “Raid Parties” ( party size of 24 or more to avoid friendly fire). That is still waiting for implementation as far as I know and @Chris has stated it is in his priority list. I am sure once resolved it may light a spark again in PvP interest.

I have previously proposed something on an even larger scale. Here is The Mondragon blueprint once again and you and the other PvP experts can dissect/refine/throw it in the trash heap if you are so inclined.

4 castles in each of the 4 quadrants of the Novian map. Each set on a weekly timer and guarded by a large retinue of tier 10 or higher mobs. Whichever guild takes it has a weekly passage to underground locations under each castle which have double or triple amounts of all resources required for crafting etc. The victors also have the title of Champions of the (North/South/East/West). This is only a blueprint yet I believe it can provide an endgame, a purpose to the hours of endless grinding and as the OP asked for some pleasure to the game.

Add this along with Elgarion brewing up some NPC invasions for the PVE crowd with full loot on the NPC mobs and we have excitement to offer to present, former and future SOTA players. Let me know what you and the others think.

I like this, i like this very much.

And to be frank. even the simplistic Fortnite model of an ever shrinking circle of survival while players frantically build or demolish defenses would be a big improvement to PvP right now.

They need to add battlegrounds with a reward system. I love pvp, but in shroud with the ransom system and the gank fest it never really apealed nice to me.

The only time i tried flagging I got spawn killed a couple of times and that was when ransom was live. Had a bad experience, but I will probably try it again soon. But yes, it does need some kind of reward system, but it will also be hard to prevent abuse without a battleground. Not sure how far is the developement on this, but its on the way.. Hopefully sooner than later.

I been saying we need a "WOW Battleground-like" situation for years now. Soooo much fun, and gives an actual reason to PVP.

When you enter a scene, you're automatically put on one team or another. Depending on the type of battleground, the objective is different.

BG#1: Simple capture the Flag. Capture the enemy team's flag and return it to your own flag 3 times to win the match.

BG#2: Node Capture and Hold. Map has 5 nodes spread out through the map. Capture and hold nodes to gain points. More nodes you own, more points you accrue for your team. First team to reach X number of points wins.

BG #3: Capture Territory and defeat the Enemy Team Boss. Big battle where both teams start at their own base. Move across the map, capturing Capture/Respawn Points and destroying Command Towers on the way to the enemy team's base. Spawn points closer to the enemy base makes it easy to recover and attack the enemy. Destroying towers weakens the enemy general. When the enemy general falls, your team wins.

I'm guessing UT will become one of those locations in the world where you NEED a group to take on. Like in ESO, they have world boss fight zones where you must have help. Going at it solo will not happen. I learned that the hard way ;-)

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't UT was always intended to be a group zone? It just happens that everyone leveled the right combination of skills that made it solo-able.

Good question. I've heard that said of several zones in game. Fighting bosses like dragons or trolls were supposed to be a group effort. Should be interesting to see where it goes.

Trying to be everything for everybody wasn't going to be sustainable for SOTA in the long run anyway. Now that less developer resources are available definitive choices will have to be made. We're leaning more into the MMO direction recently and no MMO i know makes all their content soloable.
